If the AFL was a wrestling/ boxing promoter, then they absolutely nailed the main event this weekend.

A grudge match to close the Gather Round between Port Adelaide and Hawthorn in a rematch of last year's Semi Final showdown.

It was an all-time classic final, but we all remember the post-match altercation more. Kenny had a go at Jack Ginnivan, James Sicily stood up for his player and started firing back at Ken. In the end, Port went to the Prelim and Kenny got a 20k fine.

So now, the Hawks are flying and return to Adelaide with revenge on their mind. They probably also have Port Adelaide right where they want them too. 1-3 and staring down the barrel of a season destined for “no man's land”.

This game will have plenty in it and even more riding on it. Particularly the home side if they lose. It could get really ugly.

Port Adelaide Power vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

You could make a movie with the finishes of the past two games that these teams have played.

Both results have gone Port’s way, but if we’re looking at the form line, then all our eggs would be in the Hawks basket right now. The ‘HokBall’ brand is going from strength to strength and building. Whereas the Power look a little bit lost at the moment with the footy they are trying to play in this weird year between senior coaches.

The Hawks were no doubt rocked this week with the news that star midfielder Will Day will miss most of the season with a fresh injury to his troublesome foot. Along with Newcombe, Moore and Nash, He’s a big piece in the Hawks engine room.

The Hawks have dealt with injuries well thus far in their unbeaten start to the season, so there is no doubt they will be able to cover the gun midfielder. Youngster Josh Ward has impressed since he’s gotten his chance and will likely keep his spot due to Day’s absence.

In welcome news for the Power, gun Zak Butter showed few signs of concern on return from a knee injury last week. The fierce midfielder is famously close with Ken Hinkley and as likely as any other to back his coach as the Power seek to turn around their spluttering season against a rival where there is certainly no love lost.

Over his entire career, Ken Hinkley has tapped into the emotional side of things to get his team up for a game. No doubt he goes back to that playbook this week for this one given the recent history.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Power pulled something out of the bag here, but it’s almost impossible to tip them based on the footy they have played over the past few weeks.

First Goal Prediction

There’s one man we want to see get on the end of the first goal and there’s one thing we want to see him do.

Jack Ginnivan gets on the end of the first goal of the game and then proceeds to do a lap of the Adelaide Oval, arms out with a plane inspired celebration. Imagine the scenes. If tensions weren’t teetering already, this might blow the top!

Betting tip: Jack Ginnivan

Most Disposals Prediction

We’re looking at the Power players here. The Hawks like to get the ball forward and not possess the ball much. It sees them ranked 12th in average disposals per game. Port in contrast, ranks first.

Father-son gun Jase Burgoyne had his breakout game in last year's final against the Hawks and has continued on his upward trajectory this year. We think he’s going to tap into that again and lead the way here.

Betting Tip: Jase Burgoyne 30 disposals
