North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Richmond Tigers Prediction - Round 6 2026

16/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

There’s nothing quite like Sunday arvo footy. It’s something we dream about during the Summer months and throughout the working week.

Over the offseason, even in the wildest of those dreams even North fans weren’t expecting to be heading into any match this season as $4.00 betting favourites.

But the world is stranger than fiction and here we are.

North Melbourne host Richmond at Marvel Stadium in Round 6 of the AFL season.

Kangaroos fans are stoked as the subtle buoyancy of hope creeps back into their soul.

The Kangaroos are coming off a loss against Brisbane, but the resolve they showed in that narrow loss to the reigning Premiers had North fans up and about; despite the result.

In contrast, Richmond remains anchored to the bottom of the ladder like Bootstrap Bill Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Tigers are the only team in the league yet to taste the sweet nectar of victory this season.

They’ve lost ten straight matches, dating back to last year, with their last four coming by an average of 57 points.

It's truly concerning stuff and reminds one of a certain team from Perth in 2025.

Probably looking at another long day at the office in Tigerland.

North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Richmond Tigers Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Richmond were blown off the park early against GWS in the Barossa and, despite holding firm after the first break, they never truly pushed the Giants out of second gear.

A handful of winless games have the Tiger optimists nervous, but this does arrive as a winnable game if their young group can produce more consistent football.

For North, the effort against the back-to-back champs was solid. Young gun Cooper Trembath continues to improve, taking unforgettable hangers and bringing his career total to 19 goals from just eight games.

The Roos have a decisive edge around the ball and should be able to command things at the stoppage, even with Xerri still a week away.

A sixth consecutive Tiger loss this season would add to the pain, while a Roo loss would be a major setback to their promising start.

Head-to-head prediction: North Melbourne by 21 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Nick Larkey is the prime candidate to open the scoring. Despite a quiet performance against Brisbane, Larkey is currently third in the league for goals with 15 majors this season, averaging three per game.

As the freshly minted club captain, expect him to lead from the front and take advantage of the inexperienced Richmond defence early in the piece.

GO BIG SOUV!

Betting Tip: Nick Larkey.

Most Disposals Prediction

Harry Sheezel has been the key architect behind the North Melbourne revival in 2026. He is currently averaging 31.6 disposals per game and has already recorded a season-high of 40.

He famously equalled the all-time AFL disposal record with 54 touches against Richmond last season, this one’s a no-brainer.

Betting Tip: Harry Sheezel.
