Hawthorn Hawks vs Port Adelaide Power Prediction - Round 6 2026

16/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

On a roll after securing their fourth straight victory last weekend, Hawthorn will face Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium for Round Six of the AFL Season.

The Hawks flexed their muscles against the previously undefeated Dogs in a 104-64 victory at Gather Round.

Jack Ginnivan maintained his career-best form in that result, finishing with 28 disposals, 10 score involvements and a goal, while Jai Newcombe added 28 disposals, 19 contested possessions, 14 clearances and a goal.

It was a less successful festival of footy for Port Adelaide, falling 81-67 against St Kilda, dropping their record to two wins from five starts in 2026.

Hawthorn decimated Port 87 to 49 in the last meeting between these clubs in Round 19, 2025. They’re likely to replicate a similar result as the gap seems to have widened between.

The 2026 season is reaching a critical juncture for both clubs. Hawthorn are looking like a genuine top four threat with their chaotic attacking footy, while Port Adelaide seem to be lacking identity under new coach Josh Carr.

This match is set to give a true measure of where Port are at, and their chances of making finals in 2026.

If Hawthorn can win well here, they’ll go a long way to proving that they’re the real deal and that last week was no fluke against the Dogs.

Hawthorn Hawks vs Port Adelaide Power Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Hawks were presented a golden opportunity to beat the unbeaten Dogs and took that chance in convincing fashion. Mitch Lewis played his best game in a long while whilst Dylan Moore and Jack Ginnivan were prolific. Jack Gunston kicked a few and things look rosy for the high-flying Hawks.

For Port, the season is interesting. Are they September contenders or are they refusing to rebuild? We’d strongly claim they’re in the latter category.

The loss of Jack Lukosius to injury is yet another blow for Josh Carr’s team, forcing a shuffle that sees Todd Marshall moving forward and their scoring potency significantly diminished.

The Hawks are a force early so far this season and will be hard to stop on the fast track at Marvel Stadium.

Their ability to move the ball with speed should expose a Port defence that has looked vulnerable against high-pressure transitions.

Head-to-head prediction: Hawthorn Hawks by 31 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Nick Watson has been a constant threat in the forward half, and his ability to find space in a crowded goal square makes him a dangerous proposition early.

With the Hawks love to start fast, look for the Wizard to weave some magic and slot the opener.

Watson looks in fine form in 2026, perfectly suited to the fast deck at Marvel, Watson will be kicking goals early and often in this one.

Betting Tip: Nick Watson.

Most Disposals Prediction

Jai Newcombe has been killing it in 2026 and he’s coming off a monster performance against the Bulldogs.

He consistently racks up high disposal numbers, particularly in contested situations where his strength is a major asset.

With 28 disposals last week in a tough contest, expect him to be chasing the Sherrin all day again this Saturday.

Betting tip: Jai Newcombe.
