Hawthorn Hawks vs Adelaide Crows Prediction - Round 11 2026

20/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

The 2026 AFL season is heating up beautifully, and Round 11 serves up a spicy opening act as the Hawthorn Hawks meet last year's minor premiers, the Adelaide Crows, down at UTAS Stadium on Thursday night.

Talk about a narrative dripping in tension; Adelaide comes up against the very side that brutally ended their 2025 campaign.

The Hawks claimed that high-stakes semi-final encounter 101-67 right on the Crows' own deck, making Adelaide the first minor premiers since 1983 to bow out in straight sets.

However, the Crows enter this clash in ominous form after completely demolishing North Melbourne 133-65 last week, fuelled by a blistering 10-goal second quarter – one of the most dominant displays we’ve seen all season.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn’s recent slide is real after they lost a second consecutive match, 120-81 against the Dees last Saturday, extending their winless run to three matches after a strong start to the season.

The Hawks should still take confidence from returning to UTAS Stadium, where they’ve won 11 straight matches, including a narrow 47-44 victory over Adelaide in Round 14 last year.

Its 6th vs 8th, Hawthorn vs Adelaide - with the winner pushing up towards the top four.

Hawthorn Hawks vs Adelaide Crows Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

This game shapes as a cracking contest with both sides needing a win for vastly different reasons.

Adelaide wish to establish their season after smoking the Roos last week in a dominant display. Getting down to Launceston and rolling the Hawks on foreign soil would be a true return to form for last season’s minor premiers.

On the flip side, the Hawks' form lines are becoming a little worrying. Smashed by Melbourne, run over by Freo, and a draw with the Pies.

This is hardly premiership-worthy stuff, but we must remember the real flag won't be played for until October.

Both sides, despite having incredibly lofty ambitions for 2026, possess B-grade midfield groups and desperately need to keep building on their respective combinations.

Hawthorn should welcome a few back from the injury list as they look to respond to a humbling loss to the Dees – but the whispers are that Will Day will be returning via the VFL.

Hawkies have a genuine home-ground advantage over in Tassie and we think they’ll do just enough to hold off this murder of Crows.

Head-to-head prediction: Hawthorn Hawks by 10 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Josh Rachele has absolutely hit a sweet spot in form lately and is playing with the kind of confidence that makes him a menace inside 50.

Everything he touches seems to be turning to gold and with Adelaide looking to make a statement early – Rachele can do just that with an early touch.

We like young Rachele to score the first of a few goals here.

Betting tip: Josh Rachele.

Most Disposals Prediction

Jai Newcombe is the ultimate competitor in the engine room and is exactly the type of player who stands up when the Hawks are under fire.

He loves the physical grind and has a proven track record of consistently racking up 25+ disposals when hunting the leather at UTAS Stadium.

Expect him to lead the stats sheet as he carries the bulk of the midfield load on Thursday night.

Betting tip: Jai Newcombe.
