GWS Giants vs North Melbourne Prediction - Round 7 2026

24/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

The AFL comes to the ACT as GWS Giants host North Melbourne to close out Round 7.

Hoping to further legitimise themselves and cement a position in the top 8, North Melbourne have Toby Greene and his Giants firmly in their sites this Sunday.

The Kangaroos secured their third win from four matches by obliterating the hapless Richmond 130-55 at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, led by Paul Curtis’ career-best six-goal haul.

Meanwhile, GWS fell to their fourth defeat in five matches via a disappointing 107-66 loss to Sydney at the SCG last Friday.

Highly touted in 2026 after making a solid run in the finals last season, the Giants have failed to fire a shot. Making matters worse is the fact that they’re struggling to score points, with GWS failing to surpass 74 points four times this season.

History favours the home side here, as North Melbourne hasn't overcome the Giants since 2020, but the new and improved Kangaroos will be arriving in a mood to rectify this.

GWS Giants vs North Melbourne Kangaroos Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

What a scalp and an announcement this could be for the Roo Boys. Once upon a time, this was North’s home away from home, but now they’ll travel to Canberra as visitors but choc-full of confidence.

GWS were soundly beaten by their Sydney rivals, so they will be eager to avenge that but also keep pace with the clubs above.

A 2-5 record would be a major hole for Adam Kingsley’s men. While North sits fifth on the ladder and GWS fourteenth, the Giants have had the wood on North Melbourne on recent years, which surely counts for something.

But this to be a new and improved North Melbourne side under Alastair Clarkson.

The Giants hold a significant advantage in contested ball, but if the Roos' youthful exuberance can break the game open through the corridor, we could see an upset.

Five of GWS's last six home matches have gone OVER the total match points line, suggesting we are in for a high-scoring shootout. We expect GWS to dig deep at their second home, but it’ll be a thriller.

Head-to-head prediction: GWS Giants by 4 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Jesse Hogan is our pick to open the scoring. While he’s been relatively hit-and-miss recently, Hogan remains a primary focal point of the GWS attack when they are humming.

With North’s defence showing vulnerability and inexperience during multiple contests this season; we’re expecting Jesse Hogan to take advantage and boot the first major early.

Betting tip: Jesse Hogan.

Most Disposals Prediction

Averaging 32.83, Sheezel consistently has the most involvements in the league outside of a Daicos.

Coming off a massive 39-disposal masterclass against Richmond, Harry Sheezel is playing some of the best footy of his career.

Freshly empowered by a North Melbourne side that is finally getting on the front, 2026 Sheezel is free to play creative, attacking footy and is constantly threatening the defence.

While Clayton Oliver is finding plenty of the footy for the Giants, Sheezel's ability to rack up touches across half-back and through the middle makes him the safest play here.

Betting tip: Harry Sheezel.
