Super Saturday continues from the west of the town, where the GWS Giants play host to Geelong in the Saturday twilight.

After both teams came off soft kills last weekend with big wins over West Coast and Richmond respectively, both sides will be clamoring to get into this one and come up against some quality opposition.

The Giants, in beating the Eagles, won their third game in a row on either side of the bye and arrested some momentum from the stop-start nature of their season before then.

At 10-6 and sitting in eighth spot, their position is still perilous and they must keep winning, and winning well if they want to feature in September.

The Cats disposed with the Tigers at home last Saturday in what turned into a day of celebration at the Cattery. It was Chris Scott’s 350th game as coach, Spearhead Jeremy Cameron kicked his 700th career goal, and youngster George Stevens announced himself with an impressive performance on debut.

The Cats have a great beneficiary in the draw on the run home, and many games left to play at GMHBA Stadium. But will be hunting a win here, away from home, to further grip their hands on one of those top-four spots come the end of the season.

It’s a big game. The Cats are shooting for the top four, and the Giants need to keep winning to avoid missing out altogether. Stars everywhere and two systems in place that are in tune with the modern game.

On a selection front, Jesse Hogan is expected to come straight back into the team after being rested for the trip to Perth. Lachie Whitfield was given an extra week to get over the concussion he suffered against the Giants.

The Giants will sweat on key defender Jack Buckley after he was subbed out in the third quarter against the Eagles after some friendly fire.

For the Cats, Bailey Smith was a late withdrawal against the Tigers but should be back for the game against the Giants. Tyson Stengle was also a late out for personal reasons. His return is unclear.

It will be interesting to see what Chris Scott does after both players who came in (Stevens and Jack Bowes) performed strongly and would find themselves incredibly stiff to be dropped.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds, and betting tips, check out our Giants vs Cats prediction and preview below.

GWS Giants vs Geelong Predicted Teams

GWS Giants Predicted Team List

B: Connor Idun, Leek Aleer, Joe Fonti

HB: Lachie Whitfield, Jack Buckley, Lachie Ash

C: Ryan Angwin, Toby Bedford, Josh Kelly

HF: Xavier O’Halloran, Aaron Cadman, Darcy Jones

F: Jake Stringer, Jesse Hogan, Toby Greene

Foll: Kieran Briggs, Tom Green, Finn Callaghan

Int: Callum Brown, Harvey Thomas, Harry Rowston, Jake Riccardi, Toby McMullin

Geelong Predicted Team List

B: Connor O’Sullivan, Jack Henry, Mark Blicavs

HB: Lawson Humphries, Tom Stewart, Jack Bowes

C: Ollie Dempsey, Max Holmes, Jack Martin

HF: Patrick Dangerfield, Shannon Neale, Shaun Mannagh

F: Ollie Henry, Jeremy Cameron, Brad Close

Foll: Rhys Stanley, Bailey Smith, Tom Atkins

Int: Tyson Stengle, Zach Guthrie, George Stevens, Mark O’Connor, Mitch Duncan

GWS Giants vs Geelong Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Giants have a good thing going against the Cats at the moment, winning the last three head-to-head matches. In a fixture quirk, All these three games have been down in Geelong.

The last time these teams faced off at the Sydney Showgrounds was the week of the COVID pandemic in 2020, when the Giants recorded a thumping win. The time before they met there… They drew!

The Cats are leveling up. They have the second-best attacking profile in the game and have elevated themselves to being the third-best defensive unit in the game, too.

Although it must be said, this will be severely tested on the weekend after Jesse Hogan ripped them to shreds with seven goals earlier this season in one of the best games of the year. With Stringer now firing and getting back to something resembling his best, It makes the Giants' forward line more potent and unpredictable.

Expect the Giants midfield bulls in Green and Callaghan to be busy, Ditto the dash brothers in the hoops who between the four of them, will share plenty of the footy.

There’s more riding on the result of this game for the Giants so we’re backing them in to continue the good form against the Cats going.

Betting tip: Giants

First Goal Prediction

‘The Package’ is starting to deliver in the land of the Giants.

Eight goals from his past four games has Jake Stringer hitting form at the right time as the Giants look to continue their surge. After making an initial impact as a sub, he’s earned his spot in the starting 22, and we’re backing him to kick the first goal.

Betting tip: Jake Stringer

Most Disposals Prediction

We mentioned them before, but expect there to be a stack of footy shared between the four main guys here. Baz Smith and Max Holmes on one side. Tommy Green and Fin Callaghan on the other.

Who Mark O’Connor goes to try cool and keep in check might determine the result of many picks, but regardless of who they pick, Tom Green will still end up with plenty of the footy.

Betting tip: Tom Green 35+ disposals

Greater Western Sydney Giants vs Geelong Cats Match Details

Date: Saturday, July 12, 2025

First Bounce: 4:15pm AEST

Location: ENGIE Stadium, Sydney

How to watch: Fox Footy/ Kayo Sports
