Who would have thought that a 1:20pm early Saturday game on the Gold Coast between the Suns and Adelaide would be appointment viewing but here we are.

Two undefeated teams who are two of the more fun teams to watch so far this season, going head-to-head in an early game of the season contender.

Both the Suns and the Crows finished outside the top eight last season and have set themselves to launch into finals contention this year. Expectations which have been backed up by their respective strong start.

The Suns have already secured a pair of emphatic victories but could send a warning shot across the competition with another win that would take them to 3-0 for just the second time in their 15 seasons.

The Crows are finally living up to the promise that had been brewing across a lengthy rebuild but few could have predicted the belated rise would come with such a rush, winning their opening three games by an average margin of 53 points. A win over the Suns could see them claim top spot on the ladder.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds and betting tips, check out our Suns vs Crows prediction and preview below.

Gold Coast vs Adelaide Predicted Teams

Gold Coast Suns

B: Wil Powell, Sam Collins, Mac Andrew

HB: Daniel Rioli, Bodhi Uwland, John Noble

C: Sam Clohesy, Matt Rowell, Lachie Weller

HF: Touk Miller, Will Graham, Conor Budarick

F: Ethan Read, Ben King, Ben Long

Foll: Jarrod Witts, Noah Anderson, Bailey Humphrey

Int: Sam Flanders, Jed Walter, Nick Holman, Joel Jeffrey, Jake Rogers

Adelaide Crows

B: Josh Worrell, James Borlase, Rory Laird

HB: Wayne Milera, Mark Keane, Max Michalanney

C: Isaac Cumming, Jordan Dawson, Lachie Sholl

HF: Ben Keays, Riley Thilthorpe, Izak Rankine

F: Darcy Fogarty, Taylor Walker, Alex Neal-Bullen

Foll: Reilley O’Brien, Jake Soligo, James Peatling

Int: Dan Curtin, Matt Crouch, Mitch Hinge, Sid Draper, Billy Dowling

Gold Coast vs Adelaide Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

All eyes will be on the midfield battle here with the best clearance team in the competition (The Suns) up against the fourth best clearance team (Crows).

Both these sides are two of the highest scoring teams in the competition so a shootout between the key forwards looms, with plenty of big boys in the respective forward lines getting themselves on the scoresheet and in the race for a Coleman Medal comes the season's end.

The Suns’ half -back recruits in Dan Rioli and John Noble have made an instant impact in their new colours. Noble had a career best 29-possession game against the Demons at the MCG last week and is currently among the league leaders for both kicks and effective disposals.

As good as they have been, the Suns strong backline will have their work cut out for them trying to curtail the potent Adelaide forward line. The tall trio of Taylor Walker, Darcy Fogarty and Riley Thilthorpe have combined for 24 goals across the opening three games this season and are looking ominous. Add in the likes of Ben Keays and Izak Rankine snapping at their heels and it’s no wonder the Crows are coming and are exciting to watch.

The Suns record at home is nothing to be sneezed at though. Especially since Damien Hardwick took over, they have only lost just twice at People First Stadium under his tutelage.

Expect a high-scoring game, but we think the Suns will have the edge at home.

Betting tip: Gold Coast.

First Goal Prediction

As alluded to above, the scoring prowess in this game is going to be off the charts. So, picking an option for the first goal is going to be tough.

It’s easy to pick one of the key forwards at both ends, but Ben Keays continues to have a knack of inserting himself and firing the first shot. We expect him to do it again and add to his already strong goal tally this season.

Betting tip: Ben Keays.

Most Disposals Prediction

There’s something about a contract year and producing your best football. Gold Coast star Matt Rowell is back to his ball winning best this year, averaging 33 disposals per game and posting a career-high 36 disposals last week against the Dees.

Betting Tip: Matt Rowell (30 + disposals)

Gold Coast vs Adelaide Match Details

Date: Saturday April 5, 2025.

First Bounce: 1:20pm AEDT.

Location: People First Stadium, Gold Coast.

How to watch: Fox Footy/Kayo.
