Geelong Cats vs Western Bulldogs Prediction - Round 6 2026

14/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

It’s Round 6 of the AFL season and Friday night brings an exciting clash as Geelong Cats host the Western Bulldogs at GMHBA Stadium.

This matchup serves as a fraud check for the fourth-place Bulldogs, who enjoyed a blistering start to the year before being outclassed by Hawthorn at Gather Round.

Now, they face perennial contenders in Geelong who have a team stacked with living legends of Aussie Rules. Can they make the trip down the Princes Freeway and return with the four points?

Geelong has transformed their home ground into a fortress once again in 2026, winning all of their last six matches at Kardinia Park. Even the Bont himself has a losing record in Geelong, having won only two of eight matches that he’s played at GMHBA Stadium.

This fixture carries serious weight after an incredible contest in Round 11 last year.

That game featured Mitch Duncan’s 300th match and Bailey Smith playing for Geelong against his old side for the first time. It was a seesawing affair where the Cats kicked six unanswered goals in the second term before the Dogs levelled the scores late in the final quarter.

Geelong managed to win out in the end, which ended up being symptomatic of the Dogs ‘25 campaign, where they often fell short in the dying moments.

But this is a new Western Bulldogs, who will arrive in Geelong looking to bounce back after being dismantled by a sharp Hawthorn outfit.

Questions remain over whether they’re legit contenders in 2026, find out below as we preview a rivalry as old as time itself, it’s Dogs vs Cats.

Geelong Cats vs Western Bulldogs Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

This looks like a real sharp test for the wounded Bulldogs, with Geelong steadily working into the season as they always do.

While injuries are striking most teams right now, Geelong included - it certainly won’t help the Bulldogs cause in such a hostile environment.

Geelong were pushed for a half by West Coast last week before eventually gapping the Eagles; in truth, the 46-point margin probably should have been even greater.

On the flip side, the Dogs felt ripe for the picking against Hawthorn and were duly taken to the cleaners.

There isn’t really a dominant ruckman in this matchup to fully expose the Bulldogs' current lack of Timmy English, so the Dogs' star-studded midfield simply needs to get to work.

Ryley Sanders managed 25 touches last week, while Matt Kennedy was down on output.

Crucially for the Cats, Jeremy Cameron found some form last week with three goals and several strong contested marks. If Jezza is firing, then it could be a long trip back up the highway for the Dogs.

Head-to-head prediction: Geelong Cats by 14 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Jezza is the man to watch here. After a relatively quiet start to the year, his three-goal masterclass against the Eagles proved he’s not forgotten how to kick goals.

Cameron has a formidable record of hitting the scoreboard early to ignite the home crowd.

And with the Bulldogs defence potentially missing key pillars like Connor Budarick, expect Jezza to find good, clean ball in space and slot the opener.

Betting tip: Jeremy Cameron.

Most Disposals Prediction

Max Holmes has been electric for the Cats recently, but there’s no denying that Bailey Smith should be the statistical favourite here.

He racked up a ridiculous 40 disposals against the Crows a few weeks ago at Adelaide Oval and will be out hunting the leather again in this matchup with his old club.

If the Cats are successful in this one, it’ll be Bazlenka leading the account and distributing to the Geelong forward-line.

Betting tip: Bailey Smith.
