Week two of the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Rounds begins down the highway at the Cattery for a classic Cats and Dogs grudge match between Geelong and the Western Bulldogs.

It’s a blockbuster to kick off the round. Two high-flying teams have started the year very well, both coming off big wins last weekend and in great form.

The Cats broke Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval once again. Jeremy Cameron starred with a bag of seven goals, a haul that broke the game open as they ran away with a 76-point win.

The Dogs comprehensively brushed past Essendon on Saturday night by 91 points. Rhylee West continued his stellar year with four goals, and Buku Khamis supported his move forward with three goals, while star defender Bailey Dale spent the rest of the weekend recovering from a bout of leather poisoning after a record-breaking 49 disposals.

It’s a stacked and cracking game to kick off the round. But just to add something extra this time, enter Bailey Smith.

Bailey Smith, one of the biggest names in the game, will face his former side for the first time after his high-profile trade in the off-season. And hasn’t there been some shade thrown both ways?

Barbs about Ballarat and flipping birds, mixed with some cryptic messages on Instagram and sly comments from Dogs coach Luke Beveridge and Smith himself, clearly indicate that there is no love lost between the two parties.

It sets the scene for some fireworks in what is going to be a brilliant game.

The Cats will be forced into several changes after their involvement in the hamstring-pinging party at Adelaide Oval last Saturday. Superstar Patrick Dangerfield and midfielder Jack Bowes both succumbed to hamstring injuries and will need replacing. This opens the door for the uncapped George Stevens to potentially make his AFL debut. Tom Stewart remains a week-to-week proposition with his knee injury but could possibly return.

Cats veteran Mitch Duncan is set to play his 300th AFL game in the hoops, becoming just the seventh player to reach the milestone at the club.

Meanwhile, the Dogs will also be forced into one change, with exciting small forward Arthur Jones injuring his hamstring in the massive win over Essendon.

Geelong vs Western Bulldogs Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Cats hold sway in the recent head-to-head battles with the Dogs, winning seven of the past 10 meetings. However, the Dogs have saluted the past two times they have ventured down the highway, adding a layer of intrigue to the matchup.

According to Wheelo Ratings, these are the best two teams in the competition, which should treat us all to a fantastic contest.

The Dogs' midfield brigade is on fire at the moment, with the skipper Marcus Bontempelli leading the charge. Unsurprisingly, the Dogs are 4-1 since he returned. Liberatore’s strong form has continued, and the additions of Freijah and Kennedy have added the extra grunt to the Dogs' engine room.

Will it be too much to overpower Smith and the Cats? Or can Jeremy Cameron take control again and hand the improving key defender James O’Donnell a reality check?

We think it might be. Here we are tipping another away team’s streak at the Cattery to continue.

First Goal Prediction

At present time, there are only about two players in the league that you can guarantee for at least two goals a week. Luckily for punters, they’re both playing in this game!

So you can do no wrong by picking one of Ollie Dempsey or Rhylee West who both have 10 and 14 goals respectively from their past five matches. We’re picking Dempsey to hit the board first though. It’s on his home ground and he’s kicked the first goal of a game three times already this season.

Betting tip: Ollie Dempsey

Most Disposals Prediction

There can only be one person we’re picking here and for good reason. After getting so close to raising the bat last week, Bailey Dale is sure to get some attention from the Cats.

But, it’s his natural game to hunt and distribute the ball off the half-back line, it drives the Dogs’ attack. He’ll find plenty of it.

Betting Tip: Bailey Dale 30+ disposals
