Fremantle Dockers vs West Coast Eagles Prediction - Round 20 2026

21/07/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Sitting 12 points clear atop the AFL ladder, Fremantle will look to maintain momentum when they host West Coast in a Round 20 Western Derby at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

The Dockers got the job done against a depleted Port Adelaide outfit last Saturday, winning 103-75 despite a testing first half.

Freo managed player loads throughout the match, including giving Shai bolton the weekend off.

With the minor premiership virtually locked in and a home qualifying final all but guaranteed, Fremantle can be methodical about how they use their best players.

West Coast head into the Derby on the back of a 93-69 loss to Brisbane on Saturday, though they were competitive for long stretches of the contest.

The young Eagles have produced some encouraging performances in recent weeks, and their supporters have plenty to be excited about heading into 2027.

Six of the last seven matches between these sides have also gone over the total match points line, which tells you this Derby rarely lacks for goals.

The Dockers have won nine of the past 10 Western Derbies, including a 97-41 result in Round 6 this season.

West Coast has also lost each of their last 25 matches against teams on a winning streak, a statistic that makes the result in this one fairly straightforward to project.

Fremantle Dockers vs West Coast Eagles Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Eagles were gallant last week against the defending champs, keeping it competitive deep into the second half.

Freo just did what needed to be done in Adelaide against Port, managing a few player loads in-game and leaving Shai Bolton at home.

The young Eagles are exciting and 2027 promises to be another positive year for them. But how can you not be up for a Derby? Both sides will be ready, though class should prevail.

This Derby will be all dressed in purple.

Head-to-head prediction: Fremantle Dockers by 28 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Josh Treacy has been a standout for the Dockers all season and is stringing together his best year in the AFL to date. He's kicked multiple goals in all but two matches in 2026 and we're expecting no different against West Coast.

Between Treacy, Pat Voss and Jye Amiss, the Dockers forward line is a nightmare to contend with and Treacy continues to be the leader of that.

The Big Cohuna to score early and often in the local derby.

Betting tip: Josh Treacy.

Most Disposals Prediction

Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw make this a genuine coin toss. Both are elite ball-winners and either could finish with the most touches in this one.

The difference: Serong may be managed out of the game if Freo are well in front in the second half.

Brayshaw likely won’t carry that same caveat. We'll back Brayshaw to go the distance and be heavily involved once again in this one.

Betting tip: Andrew Brayshaw.

AFL Same Game Multi Tips

Betting tip: Fremantle Dockers 1-39 / Caleb Serong 25+ disposals / Murphy Reid 23+ disposals / Jake Waterman Anytime Goal.
