Fremantle Dockers vs St Kilda Saints Prediction - Round 16 2025
26/06/2025|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions
Fremantle hosts St Kilda over in the west to bring round 16, and the last round of the silly bye rounds, to a close.

The Dockers are flying towards the top four. Five wins in a row have them well on the runway to being the team that so many pundits had picked them to be at the start of the year.

It’s chalk and cheese compared to where they were when they met the Saints earlier this year. They were dreadful that night at Marvel Stadium. The Saints embarrassed them and left the Dockers with serious question marks over their credentials.

Since then, they have become the team that they were spruiking themselves to be and are well on the way to finals action again.

The Saints have gone the other way. They’ve fallen into the bottom four with just one win from the past five matches. They were competitive against Collingwood for three quarters last week before the Pies flexed in the last quarter to make the game safe.

So here’s a chance for the Dockers to take another step towards a top-four finish.

On a selection front, it’s hard to see the Dockers making too many changes after a string of five impressive wins. However, they will be boosted by the return of their skipper Alex Pearce, should he tick off some final boxes in his recovery from a hot spot issue in his foot.

The Saints lost young gun Mattaes Phillipou minutes before the bounce last week and will be without him for another short stint. There won't be too much reprieve coming on the injury front for the Saints, but the likes of Hugo Garcia, Max Hall, and Liam Henry have all put their hands up for a recall after strong performances at Sandringham.

Fremantle vs St Kilda Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Saints hold sway in the recent head-to-head, with three wins from the past five games against the Dockers.

While their visit to Optus Stadium earlier this year against the Eagles did not go in their favor, the Saints have a fairly strong record out west, with four wins from their eight games.

The Dockers brand over the past five weeks has seen them jump to being the fifth best overall in the competition, with the second best defence in the game. The Saints over that time have slipped to the second-worst overval profile with the worst defence in the league.

The Saints will hang tough for a bit, because that is what Ross Lyon has built them to do, despite the lack of quality on the park in St Kilda jumpers. We’re picking the purple haze to continue their winning ways.

First Goal Prediction

Fresh off committing his long-term future to the club, young gun Murphy Reid has continued to impress in his first year in the league.

We’re backing the kid they call ‘Brucey’ to hit the board first in this one.

Betting tip: Murphy Reid

Most Disposals Prediction

As speculation continues to mount about where he will be playing his football next year, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera keeps on producing performances that just keep increasing his value.

The Saints constantly look to go through him to move the ball (why not because he’s the best kick on the team), so we’re picking him to lead all comers on Sunday.
