Fremantle Dockers vs Port Adelaide Power Prediction | Round 11 2025
23/05/2025|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions
Fremantle (known as Walyalup during the SDNR) returns home after a stirring win over the Giants to host a struggling Port Adelaide (known as Yartapuulti for the SDNR).

The Dockers secured the win they needed, seemingly against the odds. Although the Giants were flat and not at their best at the moment, it takes considerable courage to go to a place where you’ve never won before and control the game from start to finish.

It was the complete opposite for Yartapuulti last week against the Cats. After the carnage of all the hamstring injuries in the first half, the Power barely gave a yelp after halftime, falling to the Cats by 76 points, marking their third loss by greater than 10 goals this season. It’s all ending rather meekly for Ken Hinkley in his final season as coach.

This makes this game critical for the Dockers. Only out of the top eight on percentage heading into the round, they need to win to stay among the chasing pack as we enter the second half of the season.

Of course, there is an element of seeking revenge on the Power after the conclusion of last season. Yes, their capitulation was self-inflicted, but when the Dockers just needed to win the game to make the finals at home, the Power had their way with them.

It’s not quite the same situation this time around, but Walyalup does need to keep winning. They get the lay-up of a struggling Power team to help them launch into the second half of their season.

From a selection standpoint, the Dockers will need to decide on ruckman Sean Darcy and whether to bring him back. It’s a significant decision for Justin Longmuir, particularly after how well the centre square functioned last week with just Luke Jackson as the sole ruckman and Pat Voss as support. They are also hoping to get important winger Nathan O’Driscoll back from injury.

For the Power, several forced and unforced changes could be on the horizon after the disastrous loss to the Cats. Defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher is poised to play his first game of the season and could edge out Esava Ratugolea for a spot in the backline. Jed McEntee and Christian Moraes would be among the candidates to fill the spots of the injured trio: Jason Horne-Francis, Lachie Jones, and Josh Sinn. Veteran Travis Boak and youngster Joe Berry will surely also be considered. Youngster Hugh Jackson is set to make his senior debut.

Fremantle vs Port Adelaide Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Power have dominated this matchup recently, winning seven of the last 10 meetings.

Yartapuulti heads to Perth with no real fear of traveling too, having won their past two games against the Dockers at Optus Stadium.

All season long, Justin Longmuir has had the constant rucking question, two rucks or one? As it becomes increasingly likely they will face a fight to keep Luke Jackson, the 23-year-old showed off why he should be the Dockers main man moving forward. 21 disposal, seven clearance and 32 hitout display against the Giants was a dominant display and left the Walyalup coaches with a decision about how they structure up moving forward.

The Power are scrapping to keep it together as they have plummeted into the bottom four. In keeping with the theme of ‘needing an occasion to get up for the game’, it’s Willie Rioli’s 100th game this week. After the couple of months he has had both on and off the field, he would desperately love his teammates to lift for him this week.

Even though they are one of the most untrustworthy teams in it this year, it’s hard to look past the Dockers at home this week. Especially against this Yartapuulti team.

First Goal Prediction

Off-season recruit Shai Bolton has started to cook in recent weeks.

24 disposals, 10 score involvements, eight marks and crucially, three goals against the Giants last week, He’s starting to show the Dockers faithful why they gave up so much to get him across.

Against a depleted lineup, we’re tipping him for another big day. Starting with the first of the night.

Most Disposals Prediction

There’s the old saying, ‘when the going gets tough, the tough gets going’.

Not that he needs a reason to pull out one of those special performances, but if there was ever a week for a Zak Butters special, leading the way in an against the odds win away from home, this might be it.

Betting Tip: Zak Butters 25+ disposals
