<p>Welcome to The Huddle’s AFL Finals previews!</p> <p>After the tightest and craziest season ever, we are finally down to the final eight teams that will battle it out for this year’s premiership.</p> <p>As we gear up for all the September action, it’s time to look at and preview all the teams that have qualified for the AFL Finals in 2024.</p> <p>Having spent all but one week inside the top eight, lets preview how the GWS Giants are shaping up ahead of another AFL Finals campaign.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2>GWS Giants’ Road to the Finals</h2> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>For all their smack talking and shenanigans they have spawned on social media this year, the Giants can certainly back it up on the footy field.</p> <p>They went undefeated through the first six weeks of the season before a mixed bag of strong wins, lucky escapes and poor losses saw them sitting just outside the eight at the conclusion of Round 17.</p> <p>After finding themselves close to 40 points down at home against Carlton at quarter -time, the orange team surged over the top of the Blues and, like last year, rattled off seven straight victories to surge into the top four.</p> <p>A second successive finals campaign for the Giants and two in two years under Adam Kingsley.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2>Players to Watch</h2> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3>Jesse Hogan</h3> <p>The Coleman Medallist is one of the stories of the season. Ever since that game at quarter-time against the Blues, Hogan pretty much decided he’d never miss a shot on goal again for the rest of the year. He kicked five straight that night and has gone on to kick 26 goals and seven behinds in the weeks following during their barnstorming run home.</p> <p>His presence in the forward line and the way he is commanding the football is akin to some of the great full forwards of yesteryear. Hogan is finally playing the football his talents reflected when he was pre-selected in the mini draft all those years ago.</p> <p>He could kick the Giants to their maiden flag on his own.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3>Tom Green</h3> <p>The young bull has continued to elevate his game as one of the best contested midfielders in the competition. Currently ranked third for contested possessions per game, Green has assumed the mantle as top dog in a stacked Giants midfield.</p> <p>Green’s biggest improvement this season has been his ability to work through a tag. A natural ball magnet, Green amassed a career- high 40 disposals against the Dockers two weeks ago, establishing a&nbsp; strong form line as the season has built. Looks like he’s setting himself for another big finals campaign.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3>Lachie Whitfield</h3> <p>The Orange tsunami has been as effective as it has been thanks to Lachie Whitfield being back to his absolute best.</p> <p>He ranks third in average disposals per game and first in effective disposals per game.</p> <p>His running power and ability to consistently hit targets up the field makes him such a key part of what the Giants do.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2>Why GWS Giants can win the AFL Grand Final</h2> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Sound the big big sound warnings because the tsunami in full flight is breathtaking.</p> <p>They probably have the best key defender (should he be fit for finals) and best key forward in the competition, sprinkled around with the perfect mix of midfielders and role players.
