Collingwood Magpies vs Richmond Tigers Prediction - Round 16 2026

25/06/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

The 2026 AFL season is rolling along nicely, but unfortunately, this upcoming Round 15 fixture looms as one of the more forgettable clashes between two of Melbourne’s biggest football clubs.

On the outside looking in at the top 10, the Collingwood Magpies will host the lowly Richmond Tigers at the MCG on Saturday afternoon in a match where both sides are desperate to find a spark.

Collingwood secured their sixth victory of 2026 by overcoming Port Adelaide 78-52 at the MCG last Saturday, led by Jordan De Goey with 26 disposals and three goals, alongside another dominant performance from Nick Daicos.

That result marked only the Magpies’ second win from their last seven matches, although it should be noted they’ve only lost once in that stretch by a margin of more than eight points.

Contrastingly, after falling 73-48 against North Melbourne on Sunday, Richmond has now lost 12 of 14 matches this season, while their last 11 defeats have come by a margin of 25+ points. Ouch.

Collingwood secured a 93-57 victory when these clubs met in 2025, and they will want a repeat performance to keep their realistic finals aspirations alive.

Here’s hoping the game is up and down with more transition than stoppage and plenty of goals along the way, but don’t go holding your breath.

Collingwood Magpies vs Richmond Tigers Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

We arrive at the MCG with one team desperately clinging to the finals race and the other completely stuck in the mud.

The Pies did enough but inspired few with their win over Port Adelaide last week, heavily relying on their top-tier elite stars to drag them across the line.

Richmond were unbelievably dull and threatened little against the Kangaroos at the birthplace of the game last Sunday afternoon, showing very little scoring threat.

With the Tigers missing key targets and losing consistency across four quarters, we think the Magpies have far too much overall class to stumble here.

Expect Collingwood to handle business comfortably as they look to build some late-season momentum.

Head-to-head prediction: Collingwood Magpies by 28 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

In the absence of Jamie Elliott, the Magpies have at times struggled for points inside the forward 50 in 2026.

We reckon Tim Membrey is a key forward who’s due to step up and keep that scoreboard ticking over early in this contest.

The Traralgon junior has been playing himself back into form lately, and with just 10 rounds left, he might have the timing exactly right.

Expect the Magpies to find the man called ‘Skunk’ inside 50 for an early shot at goal.

Betting tip: Tim Membrey.

Most Disposals Prediction

A Brownlow Medal is yet to dangle around the neck of Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos, but it seems destined to become a reality sooner rather than later.

Barring serious injury, Daicos seems destined to become the game’s next triple Brownlow medallist and only the fifth in history.

The question is, obviously, when will the 23-year-old Daicos collect his first? And while there are no certainties in football, the answer should surely be this year.

After making his AFL debut in 2022, Daicos was third in the Brownlow in 2023, runner-up in 2024, and runner-up again in 2025.

He has dropped 42 disposals in his previous two matches against Richmond and comes into this following a 41-disposal masterclass last week, making him the ultimate ball magnet.

Betting tip: Nick Daicos.
