AFLW Tips & Predictions Semi Finals

15/11/2024|SB Staff|AFL Tips & Predictions

The AFLW final eight has been cut to six after an electric opening week of this season’s finals series.

North Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions secured their passage to the final four last start, both surviving absolute thrillers.

Meanwhile, Essendon and Richmond can start planning their post-season holidays after being eliminated last week.

Their loss is Fremantle and Port Adelaide’s gain, and both the Dockers and the Power have lived to fight another day and participate in the AFLW Semi Finals.

They’ll take on the Crows and Hawks respectively, with the Lions and the Roos laying in wait for the two victors.

Who will those victors be? For the latest analysis, odds, and news for the weekend’s upcoming action, check out our expert AFLW Semi Finals tips and predictions below.

Adelaide Crows vs Fremantle Prediction

Saturday, November 16, 3:35pm AEDT – Norwood Oval

The first of this weekend’s AFLW Semi Finals takes place at Norwood Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The Crows will host Freo here, but they very nearly earned themselves the week off, pushing the undefeated Kangaroos all the way in the opening round of the AFLW Finals.

They looked good at the half, before being overrun in the second stanza, with the exploits of one player in particular responsible for their impressive opening 34 minutes.

Adelaide veteran Chelsea Randall showed why experience matters in the big games, turning in a clinic with 22 disposals and a pair of majors to her name.

Although her side fell short, expect her to once again do everything in her power to get her side across the line here.

This time, we think it will be enough to secure the win. With the Dockers solid, but not amazing last week against an Essendon team that never really got going in season 2024.

Prediction: Adelaide Crows.

Betting tip: Chelsea Randall 10+ disposals and anytime goal.

Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide Prediction

Saturday, November 16, 7:30pm AEDT – IKON Park

The second AFLW Semi Final sees Hawthorn welcome Port Adelaide to IKON Park.

The Hawks find themselves as the overwhelming favourites in the head-to-head market, but we think this one will be a lot closer than the odds suggest.

Yes, Hokball has been in full flight this year in the AFLW, but after dominating for most of the regular season (they lost just one game) they stumbled as soon as the stakes were raised.

The Lions are an impressive team in their own right, but down in Melbourne, the Hawks were expected to be the ones going straight to the Preliminary Finals.

Their opponents here, Port, will be keen to capitalise on any potential cracks in their hosts proverbial armour, particularly after turning in such an assured display last week.

Power head coach Lauren Arnell labelled her side’s efforts in their win over Richmond “a complete performance.”

They’ll need another one of those and maybe more if they are to spring an all-time ambush here and while we do think Hawthorn will ultimately be too strong, as mentioned, we think it’ll be a whole lot closer than the odds indicate.

Prediction: Hawthorn.

Betting tip: Super margin – Hawthorn 1-9.
