AFLW Tips and Predictions - Round 7 2025

25/09/2025|SB Staff|AFL Tips & Predictions

We’re halfway through the AFLW season, and things are starting to take shape.

The Roos are that far in front of the rest of the competition; it’s not funny. But beneath them is where the action is really heating up.

The Crows have jumped back up the ladder with a pair of wins, which has seen them claim a spot in the top four. They face the sliding Swans, who remarkably dropped the derby last week and risk losing touch with the pack.

The Saints kept their finals hopes alive, while the Bombers took another hit after a blistering start to the season.

With Women's footy a centrepiece of Grand Final Friday, Round 7 kicks off with a bang on Thursday night with the Hawks travelling down the highway to face the Cats.

It’s also a landmark week for the game, which will see Crows star Ebony Marinoff and Lions star Ally Anderson notch up 100 games. The first players in AFLW history.

For all the latest analysis, odds, and betting tips, check out our AFLW Round 7 tips and predictions below:

Geelong vs Hawthorn Prediction

Thursday, September 25, 7:15 pm AEST - GMHBA Stadium, Geelong

Here’s one way to kick off the perfect long weekend, Cats fans.

Not long after the men’s preliminary final showdown, the women now take centre stage—and if this clash is anything like last year’s epic (hailed by some as the greatest AFLW match of all time), we’re in for something special.

After a winless start to the season, the Cats have found their rhythm. Their defence has tightened up, and the on-ball brigade is firing on all cylinders.

The Hawks, meanwhile, have seen a noticeable lift in ball movement, thanks in part to the return of Kaitlyn Ashmore and the smooth transition work of Gilroy, who’s combining nicely with the inside grunt of West, Luca-Rodd, and Bates.

They’re building nicely, but this feels like the Cats’ time to strike back.

Head-to-head prediction: Cats by 4 points

Betting tip: Jas Fleming 25+ disposals & anytime goal

Melbourne vs Gold Coast Prediction

Friday, September 26, 1:05 pm AEST - Casey Fields, Casey

Lily Mithen comes to play her old side for the first time.

It’s unlikely to be a happy homecoming, though, considering how high the Demons are flying and how far the Sun has set.

The Suns have conceded 66.6 points per game so far this W season. With the Dees being a high-scoring team with weapons everywhere, there’s going to be another big score conceded here.

Head-to-head prediction: Demons by 45 points

Betting tip: Georgia Gall 2+ goals

Essendon vs North Melbourne Prediction

Friday, September 26, 3:05 pm AEST - Windy Hill, Melbourne

Thank you. Next.

That’s probably what the Roos said when they put away Carlton last Saturday at Arden St. A fellow top-four contender, and they put them away comfortably by 50 plus.

Ash Riddell broke her own disposals record again. Maybe the new game for North for the rest of the year is to see how many times she can beat it, because at the moment, that might be their only challenge this year. That, and the injuries that are starting to hit them.

The Dons are desperate to stop their slide, but it would take something special for it to happen against North this week.

Head-to-head prediction: Roos by 25 points

Betting tip: Tess Craven anytime goal

Carlton vs Fremantle Prediction

Friday, September 26, 5:05 pm AEST - Ikon Park, Melbourne

This one is very interesting.

The Blues were blown away by North, but everyone is getting blown away by North this year.

The Dockers have steadied the ship with wins over the Eagles and Dons, and look just about ready for a scalp. Claiming the Blues, on their home deck, would be a big one.

The Blues wouldn’t want to drop this one with who they’ve got coming up in the next few weeks, too. Almost making this a must-win clash.

Head-to-head prediction: Blues by 5 points

Betting tip: Sophie McKay anytime goal

Western Bulldogs vs Collingwood Prediction

Friday, September 26, 7:15 pm AEST - Whitten Oval, Melbourne

They might not have all the wins to show for it, but the Pies have been one of the big improvers in 2025.

Having already doubled their win tally from last season, which came very controversially on this weekend last year, they get another chance to frank their improvement under Friday night lights against the Dogs.

The Dogs have become far too predictable going forward this year. With no clear, standout target in attack, they have struggled to find avenues to goal.

The Pies' predictable ball movement and levers to pull in attack – ie. Flicking Ash Centra deep forward – makes them the favourite.

Head-to-head prediction: Pies by 7 points

Betting tip: Britt Bonnici 20+ disposals & 10+ tackles

St Kilda vs Port Adelaide Prediction

Sunday, September 28, 1:05pm AEST - RSEA Park, Melbourne

Two sides that have had rollercoaster seasons so far meet for a defining clash.

Their best footy has shown that they can match it with the best in the competition, and their worst has seen them be badly blown away.

The Power will be smarting after a narrow loss last week. Their surge footy style could prove very effective here, especially with the amount of territory the Saints like to give up.

The Saints have been hit hard by injuries, too, with the key trio of McDonald, Anderson, and Vesely all missing this week.

The winner of this one is on the runway to the finals, and the loser loses touch.

Head-to-head prediction: Power by 21 points

Betting tip: Indy Tahu first goal

Adelaide vs Sydney Prediction

Sunday, September 28, 3:05pm AEST - Unley Oval, Adelaide

It took the Crows a while to find their groove last week, but once the final siren sounded, they found themselves back in familiar surroundings. The top four on the ladder.

The Swans, who have lived in the top four all season, have shown some susceptibility to pressure over the last fortnight. They’ve appeared unable to wrestle back momentum and get a game back on their terms.

Coming up against a well-drilled Crows team, it might be hard to overturn momentum again. Even though they will get their turn.

The Crows are celebrating their skipper Eb Marinoff this week, who becomes the first AFLW player to bring up the 100-game milestone. They will absolutely be on to deliver for her.

Head-to-head prediction: Crows by 10 points

Betting tip: SGM: Anne Hatchard + Zippy Fish 25+ disposals each & Jess Allan anytime goal

Brisbane vs Richmond Prediction

Sunday, September 28, 3:05pm AEST - Brighton Homes Arena, Springfield

It’s been a weird season so far for the Lions.

Dominant away from home, but hasn’t been able to snag one on their home deck yet in 2025.

You’d imagine that changes this week when the winless Tigers come to town. They were better against the Saints, and one time threatened to cause a boilover, before the Saints found a gear that they don’t have.

There would be some serious questions asked of and from Craig Starcevich if they drop this one at home. Celebrating Ally Anderson’s 100th game too, I don’t think they will let this opportunity go to kickstart the second half of their season.

Head-to-head prediction: Lions by 22 points

Betting tip: Cathy Svarc 25+ disposals

West Coast vs GWS Giants Prediction

Sunday, September 28, 5:05pm AEST - Mineral Resources Park, Perth

How good is winning Cam Bernasconi?

After over a year of not tasting victory, the Giants have strung together two wins in a row for the first time since 2021 and are eyeing off three wins on the bounce for the first time ever.

They have all of a sudden formed a dangerous group in front of the goal. Evans, Garnett, Mobray, Levy and O’Dowd are all of a sudden potent scoring options. And then there’s Zarlie Goldsworthy, of course, too.

The Eagles were no match for the Dees in Daisy’s first matchup against her old side, but they are still building very nicely and have proven hard to beat on their home patch this season.

They will still be without livewire Lucia Painter, who, despite being a first-year player, has thrown out the structure a little bit. They’re incredibly well led, though and can damage in bursts. Which we think happens here.

Head-to-head prediction: Eagles by 8 points

Betting tip: Ella Roberts 21+ disposals & 2 goals

AFLW 2025 Premiership Odds:
