26/11/2025|SB Staff|AFL Tips & Predictions

Here. We. Go.

For the third straight year, North Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions are set to battle it out in the AFLW Grand Final.

Twelve home and away rounds and three weeks of finals later, with new teams and contenders emerging, we are still left with two of the competition’s heavyweights who will fight it out to be crowned queens of the AFLW for season ten.

The Roos have been undefeated all year and are on the verge of creating Australian sporting history with an Invincible season.

The Lions, about to play in their seventh AFLW Grand Final, which is remarkable considering the competition has only existed for ten years, are aiming to bring home their third flag in five seasons.

Better yet, the Lions are one game away from completing the Queensland sporting quadrella, with the Brisbane Broncos winning both the NRL and NRLW titles and the Lions men’s team saluting again in the Men’s Grand Final back in September. How they would love to cap off a massive year for Queensland sport.

Can the Roos go back-to-back? Or will the Lions tie the Crows with the Most AFLW Premierships won?

Let’s break it all down. For the latest team news, form, key matchups, analysis and betting tips, read Sportsbet’s comprehensive preview for the Roos vs Lions AFLW Grand Final preview below.

North Melbourne vs Brisbane Lions - 2025 AFLW Grand Final Preview

North Melbourne survived the ultimate scare in last week’s preliminary final when Melbourne led at every break until the final siren.

The Roos’ fightback and overall class, despite not being at their best, means their win streak has now extended to 26 games.

Their last loss was to Brisbane in the 2023 Grand Final, a side that cruised past the Blues by 35 points in their preliminary final.

The Lions had an up-and-down start to the season, splitting their first six games with three wins and three losses. Since then, they have gone undefeated and have looked increasingly dangerous each week.

Both teams were well represented in the AFLW 2025 All-Australian team, with the Roos having a record-equalling four players selected.

Superstars Ash Riddell, Jasmine Garner, who was named captain of the side, Tahlia Randall and Blaithin Bogue all earned All-Australian honours.

The accolades didn’t stop there for Riddell, as she was later crowned the competition's Best & Fairest for the 2025 season.

Two superstar Lions were recognised with All-Australian honours for the first time. Electric forward turned midfielder Courtney Hodder & defensive general Jennifer Dunne were recognised for their excellent seasons.

Players to Watch

Courtney Hodder

The more time Courtney Hodder spent up the ground throughout the 2025 season, the better the Lions got.

The electric small forward, turned pinch-hitting midfielder, has starred on the biggest day multiple times before, and has had a career-best season in 2025.

Jasmine Garner

Widely regarded as the best player in the game, Garner continues to elevate her game. She was front and centre last week in the Prelim against the Dees, delivering an extra special goal right when her side needed it.

Can she win back-to-back best on ground medals in the Grand Final?

Blaithin Bogue

The Irish star has been a revelation in her first full season of AFLW. The cross-coder has a goal sense like few players in the competition possess, kicking 25 goals and earning a maiden All-Australian blazer in an astonishing debut season.

She’ll be another handful for the Lions' experienced defence to sort out and cover.

North Melbourne vs Brisbane Lions - 2025 AFLW Grand Final Tips & Predictions

Who Will Win?

It is a true heavyweight contest to determine who will be crowned the best team in the first post-expansion era of the competition.

North Melbourne has dominated the competition for a couple of seasons and, despite a scare last week when it trailed at every change, the club is on the verge of something special.

The Roos were comfortable winners when they met the Lions earlier in the season, so it would be a brave punter to go against them now.

The Lions will need to address their inaccuracy in front of goal, an issue that has haunted them this season and cost them games early. They will not beat the Roos unless they take their chances.

Lions coach Craig Starcevich is the longest-serving AFLW coach in the game. He will no doubt be studying how Melbourne restricted North in the preliminary final and will hope that his seasoned and experienced team can land the knockout blow.

If anyone can devise a plan to beat them, it is him, but even then, we think the Roos might have all the answers and go back to back.

Betting tip: Roos by 25 points.

First Goal

As the boss, Bruce Springsteen puts it so eloquently, “you can’t start a fire without a Svarc’.

And, sister Ruby lit up Brighton Homes Arena last week with her four-goal game, powering the Lions back to the Grand Final.

With no shortage of scoring firepower on the field in this one, could she be the left-field option?

We’re inclined to go a little bit safer and look at one of her teammates, Dakota Davidson.

She’s continued her sharpshooting form this year, averaging a goal a game, but yet again, stood up on the big stage last week against the Blues, with a pair of second-half goals separating and making the game safe for the Lions.

She’s our pick to open the scoring.

Betting tip: Dakota Davidson

Most Disposals

No shortage of ball magnets on the field here in this one.

Remarkably, Roos star, and eventual winner Ash Riddell, went voteless in the Best & Fairest count in the consecutive games she broke the disposals record for most in a game.

She’s favoured to rack up plenty of the ball, including being around the action to potentially grab the first disposal of the game.

She’s been breaking records all season and racking up the possessions for fun. One more for the road? We think so.

Betting tip: Ash Riddell 30+ disposals

Who will be Best on Ground?

The names jump off the page, and it is hard to make a bad choice.

Garner, Riddell, Conway, Ellenger, Hodder, Koenen. And there are plenty more.

The star Roos are clear favourites, and for good reason. But looking beyond them, there is value in some of the other Roos who have put together outstanding seasons and are built to perform when it matters most.

It is a bold pick, but we like the Irishwoman Erika O’Shea for a big one here. It is also her fiftieth AFLW game, so she may walk away with a couple of different birthday presents.

Betting tip: Erika O’Shea

North Melbourne vs Brisbane Lions - 2025 AFLW Grand Final Match Details:

Date: Saturday, November 30, 2025.

First Bounce: 7:45pm AEDT.

Location: Ikon Park, Melbourne.

How to watch: Channel 7, Fox Footy/Kayo Sports.
