Sunday footy begins in the ‘City of Churches’ as Adelaide (known as Kuwarna for SDNR) hosts the West Coast Eagles (known as Waalitj Marawar for SDNR).

Despite leaving the MCG last Saturday with another heartbreakingly close loss to Collingwood, the Crows showed they are undoubtedly a class above the rest of the competition this season, finally appearing to have made the leap from pretenders to contenders.

What a rollercoaster weekend it was for the Eagles. Waking up on Saturday to the tragic news that one of their 2006 premiership heroes, Adam Selwood, had passed away, added another layer of heartbreak to a challenging season out west.

It no doubt gave Waalitj Marawar something extra to play for. Playing with the spirit and It was a stirring result for Andrew McQualter in the box and the perfect tonic for everyone of a blue and gold persuasion as they broke through for their first win of the season.

But as good as the breakthrough performance and collective exhale would have been, the wheel keeps on turning. With that comes a trip to Adelaide to face a Kuwarna team that will be sensing a live kill.

For the Crows, it’s a chance to build some percentage that will be crucial come the end of the year. For the Eagles, it’s an opportunity to continue generating stronger performances than what they have previously delivered this season and over the last few years while showcasing the McQualter brand of footy.

On the selection front, the Crows have been steady at selection over the last fortnight, but there aren’t many spots up for grabs in the Crows team currently. Lachie Murphy is available after his hamstring tendon injury but might need to come back through the SANFL. Youngster Sid Draper was an emergency last week and could be considered too.

Tex Walker was subbed out in what was likely viewed as a conditions-based move, but you sense he’ll be itching to play the Eagles at home, especially since he has had some massive days against them at home before.

The Eagles will be forced into a couple of changes after small forwards Matt Owies and Jamie Cripps sustained injuries in the win last week. This will likely see substitute Tom Gross elevated to the 22, and Noah Long return to the senior side. It remains to be seen which end of the ground skipper Oscar Allen lines up at this week too.

For the latest team news, analysis, odds, and betting tips, check out our Crows vs Eagles prediction and preview below.

Adelaide vs West Coast Predicted Teams

Adelaide Predicted Team List

B: Josh Worrell, Jordan Butts, Rory Laird

HB: Wayne Milera, Mark Keane, Mitch Hinge

C: Isaac Cumming, Jordan Dawson, Luke Nankervis

HF: Ben Keays, Riley Thilthorpe, Josh Rachele

F: Darcy Fogarty, Taylor Walker, Alex Neal-Bullen

Foll: Reilley O’Brien, Jake Soligo, Izak Rankine

Int: Sam Berry, Dan Curtin, James Peatling, Max Michalanney, Zac Taylor

West Coast Predicted Team List

B: Liam Duggan, Harry Edwards, Reuben Ginbey

HB: Ryan Maric, Oscar Allen, Brady Hough

C: Jayden Hunt, Liam Baker, Jack Hutchinson

HF: Jack Graham, Jake Waterman, Liam Ryan

F: Tyler Brockman, Bailey Williams, Tyrell Dewar

Foll: Matt Flynn, Tim Kelly, Harley Reid

Int: Sandy Brock, Tom Gross, Tom Cole, Elijah Hewett, Bo Allan

Adelaide vs West Coast Prediction & Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Crows hold sway in the recent head-to-head battles, winning the last five matches against the Eagles.

They haven’t been close contests either, with an average winning margin of 64.8 points across that time, with a 99 and 122 point drubbing among them.

The Crows have only been beaten once at Adelaide Oval this season at the hands of the Cats in Gather Round. Every other win has been by an average 36.4 points. They are a different beast at home.

We mentioned Tex before, he’s had a good time of it against the Eagles recently with 21 goals from his past three meetings. Including a bag of 10.

Unfortunately, we can’t see the Eagles getting close here.

Betting tip: Crows

First Goal Prediction

Superstar Crow Izak Rankine usually saves his best wizardry and special stuff for Sir Doug Nicholls Round. Even moreso at home.

After having his radar slightly off against the Pies, and with good recent form against the Eagles with six goals from his past two matches at the AO, we’re backing him to set the crowd alight early.

Betting tip: Izak Rankine

Most Disposals Prediction

The most exciting part about the Crows midfield brigade this year is that there are so many different ways they can hurt you.

It’s led by the skipper Jordan Dawson, but they all take their turn around him. One guy who’s had a couple of down weeks disposal wise has been Jake Soligo. We’re backing him to bounce back strongly and lead the count.

Betting tip: Jake Soligo

Adelaide Crows vs West Coast Eagles Match Details

Date: Sunday, May 25th

First Bounce: 1:20 PM, AEST

Location: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

How to watch: Fox Footy/ Kayo Sports
