Adelaide Crows vs Richmond Tigers Prediction - Round 22 2026

06/08/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Adelaide Oval plays host to the Tigers as they make their final push for a top four finish.

The Crows have had a breezy couple of weeks, coming off a 145-73 demolition of Essendon last Sunday headlined by Riley Thilthorpe's best performance of the season with five goals and 10 marks.

The Crows sit in fourth place with direct control over their top four destiny. Let’s be real, they’re highly likely to win this one but there is value to be found in the goalscorer markets.

Richmond, granted, did have a rare W last week in an entertaining 84-73 victory over West Coast.

Sam Lalor was the standout, booting three goals in what was a legitimate confidence-builder for Adem Yze's young group.

Three wins likely sees the Tigers avoiding a wooden spoon this year; which would surely have a galvanising affect on this Richmond group.

When these sides met in Round 9, however, the margin told the story. Adelaide cruised to a 98-61 victory with Izak Rankine delivering one of his performances of the season; 33 disposals, 10 marks, nine tackles, eight score involvements and a goal.

There is little to suggest that gap has closed meaningfully in the months since.

Adelaide Crows vs Richmond Tigers Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Adelaide had to put Essendon to the sword last week and did exactly that. Now they get another opportunity, this time with Richmond in town, off just their third win of the season.

Adelaide need a strong margin to guide them through a hotly contested top six on percentage.

For Richmond, this is about playing their brand of football and finding individual performances to build on. Tim Taranto has been a genuine bright spot in the midfield all season and gives the Tigers a contested ball carrier capable of making an impact on any given afternoon.

Lalor's three goals against the Eagles showed the young tall forward is beginning to find his feet at the top level. But turning those flashes into a competitive scoreline against a top four side at their own fortress is an entirely different proposition.

The Thrill Seeker is back in business at exactly the right time. Five goals and 10 marks against the Bombers was Thilthorpe's most dominant afternoon of 2026 and the match-ups against a Richmond defence managing a raft of absentees look even more favourable this week.

Jordan Dawson and Izak Rankine have both been prominent in recent weeks, Callum Ah Chee adds another elite option through the contest and the home crowd at Adelaide Oval should set the tone early.

Adelaide are chasing something real, they are playing with belief, and they have the horses to win this comfortably. We'd be surprised if this one is a contest beyond the first quarter.

Head-to-head prediction: Adelaide Crows by 63 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

The Thrill Seeker is officially back, and you'd be brave to look past him on Saturday night. Thilthorpe's five-goal, 10-mark performance against Essendon was a statement from a player who has found his 2025 All-Australian form at the precise moment it matters most.

Against a Richmond defence missing key personnel and limited in its capacity to match up against a powerful key forward, he should be a primary target from the opening bounce at Adelaide Oval. Back him to get on the board early.

Betting tip: Riley Thilthorpe.

Most Disposals Prediction

Adelaide skipper Jordan Dawson has been one of the more consistent accumulating players in the competition over the back half of the season and Saturday night at his home ground against a Richmond side that will spend long periods defending is a setup tailor-made for his game.

Dawson’s capacity to find the ball off half-back, carry hard into space and link the play between midfield and forward makes him a consistent option in this market.

He rarely goes quiet at Adelaide Oval.

Betting tip: Jordan Dawson.

AFL Same Game Multi Tips

Betting tip: Adelaide to win by 40+ / Riley Thilthorpe 3+ goals / Tim Taranto 25+ disposals / Mykelti Lefau anytime goal scorer / Josh Rachele 3+ goals.
