YTOA (11) followed a trail win in August with a good late run to get up for 3rd over 1200m at Wanganui then charged home for 2nd at this trip here last month. Take beating. LOFTY MANUEL (3) won a 1200m trial early last month & made some ground from the tail when resuming at Te Rapa. Has placed one of two runs second-up. Improver. ICON (2) ran on well for 2nd over 1400m 3 starts back here in July and had a freshen up before making up a lot of ground from the rear last time. Might be ready for this trip now. RIO BENITO (6) made ground in his first two starts over shorter tips then caught wide in midfield and couldn't finish on last start over 1400m. Is a half to Karaka Kiwi who won at 1600m & 1950m. THE FRENCHMAN (9) finished off last prep with placings over 2000m and 2200m. Made ground from last over 1400m first-up. Better placed here but may want more ground yet.
