WHEN IS THE NEXT OLYMPICS MEN’S 100M?

WHAT IS THE MEN'S 100M OLYMPIC RECORD?

Fast facts

Jim Hines was the first sprinter to break the mystical 10-second barrier, claiming a new world record with an Olympic men’s 100m time of 9.9 seconds in the 1968 final.

The legendary Carl Lewis became the first two-time Olympic 100m men’s winner, triumphing in 1984 and 1988 (the latter after Canadian Ben Johnson was infamously disqualified for doping).

Australia has produced two bronze medallists in the event: Stan Rowley (1900) and Hector Hogan (1956).
