Greyhound racing in Australia goes back to greyhounds coursing during the gold rush days of the 1860s, but “tin hare” track racing began in New South Wales in 1927 and in Victoria in 1935.
Zoom Top is Australia’s most famous racing greyhound, capturing national headlines in the 1960s as the “Bradman of greyhound racing”. Zoom Top started 136 times, won 68 races and placed in another 39.
Greyhound trainer Mark Wallis has won the most “Greyhound Trainer of the Year” titles with 12.
