WHAT IS THE COLEMAN MEDAL?

Fast Facts

The honour of most goals scored in a season goes to Bob Pratt (1934) and Peter Hudson (1971), who each bagged a whopping 150 goals.

Tony Lockett, with 1,360 goals, has kicked the most career goals of any AFL player and has won the Coleman Medal four times.

Fred Fanning, way back in 1947, holds the record for most goals in a single game (18).

Charlie Curnow became just the second back-to-back Coleman Medal winner since 2025, courtesy of a 78-goal regular season for the Blues in 2023.

At 19, John Longmire is the youngest Coleman Medal winner in the award’s history when he won in 1990.

John Coleman, the Coleman Medal’s namesake, averaged more than five goals per game during his six-season career with Essendon from 1949 to 1954.
