AUSTRALIAN OAKS PRIZE MONEY

Fast facts

Only two Australian Oaks winners have gone on to win a Melbourne Cup as a four-year-old – Light Fingers in 1965 and Evening Peal in 1956.

Bounding Away, who won the Australian Oaks in 1987, is the only filly to also win a Golden Slipper for two-year-olds.

In 1989, Research became the only filly to win the Australian Oaks and an Australian Derby since the two races were moved from spring to autumn in 1979.

Twelve fillies have won the VRC Oaks and Australian Oaks double. The most recent is Treasurethe Moment in 2025.
