Novak Djokovic gave the King of Clay his third ever loss at Roland Garros, and The Wolf expects him to record his 19th Grand Slam title in battle with Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Here are The Wolf’s French Open tips for the Men’s Final.
The Wolf certainly expected Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach his maiden Grand Slam Final, but Djokovic beating Rafael Nadal – wow!
As a result of the world number one giving Nadal his third ever loss at Roland Garros, Novak Djokovic simply must enter this contest as favourite and The Wolf thinks he’ll find a way to win his 19th career Grand Slam title.
The Greek is still young, and it has shown at times at Grand Slam level where nerves have got the better of him – when two sets up against Alexander Zverev in the Semi Final, these nerves did kick in. But if we’re looking at this match purely on tennis and form alone, Tsitsipas is a genuine chance of causing an upset. He’s 22-3 on the clay this season and has been really impressive this French Open.
The fact of the matter is though that Novak Djokovic just knows how to win, regardless of any situation he’s in. Take the Australian Open at the start of the year, for example, where he wiped Daniil Medvedev off the court despite playing injured the entire tournament.
Djokovic holds a 5-2 career record over Tsitsipas, winning their last four matches which includes the last two on clay – the Serbian beat Tsitsipas recently in Rome in a tight three-setter, and won in five in last year’s French Open Semi Final.
This will be closer than the current odds suggest – the way Tsitsipas has played this tournament he can take it to Novak, but at the end of the day, Djokovic just knows what it takes to win and will utilise his experience on the big stage. Djokovic to get it done in five.
