We are still in the midst of a very scrambled A-League season so far, with Matchweek 10 set to be made up of a mix n match full of formerly postponed games and matchups from other rounds. There is, however, a full slate of five games from Friday-Sunday, and The Wolf has you covered with his best bets for the weekend below.
Perth Glory vs Brisbane Roar
Friday Feb 26th 9.10pm (AEDT)
The Brisbane Roar started the season in hot form but have since fallen away a touch. Granted, they still sit in 2nd place on the A-League table with a 4-2-2 record, but they are coming off two straight 0-0 draws with Newcastle and Sydney and in their previous game, they lost 0-2 to Macarthur. That means they haven’t scored a goal since their 5-2 win over Melbourne Victory all the way back on the 6th of Feb, nearly three weeks ago.
The Perth Glory sit in eighth place on the table with a 3-0-2 having played just five games so far. They are coming into this clash in much better form than the Roar though, having won their last two games on the trot against Melbourne City and Adelaide United. They start as slight favourites here but The Wolf still loves their value at home against a Roar team that has been struggling mightily.
Western Sydney Wanderers at Adelaide United
Saturday Feb 27th 5.10pm (AEDT)
Interesting Saturday night matchup here between the Wanderers and Adelaide. Western Sydney have had a strong start to the season, losing just one of their opening eight games and currently sitting in fourth place with a 3-4-1 record. Their one loss came all the way back in December, and they have scored six goals in their last three games.
They come up against an Adelaide side that has already racked up four losses this season, three of them in their last four games. They were beaten 3-1 on the road in Brisbane, 2-1 at home to Perth Glory before being smashed 4-0 by Macarthur just a few weeks ago. The Wanderers have the form here and The Wolf likes them to win this one at home.
Sydney FC vs Macarthur
Sunday Feb 28th 4.10pm (AEDT)
Value pick of the weekend comes via the Sydney FC vs Macarthur game on Sunday afternoon.
Macarthur have been the surprise packet of the season so far. In their first year in the A-League, they have racked up a 4-2-3 record to start the year including two straight wins against Brisbane and Adelaide with a 6-0 combined goal aggregate but went down 4-1 to WSW in their last clash.
Sydney have a 3-2-2 record and will be looking to just into the top four with a win on Sunday. They are coming off a disappointing 3-2 loss to Melbourne City in their last clash though, and although they won their only ever meeting against Macarthur 3-0, there’s no doubt that their travelling side are improving every week in their infancy and represent great value here.
