Another round of A-League action this week with six games to be played feom Friday to Monday night! The Wolf has you covered with his best bets and best value tips for the weekend below.
Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets
Friday 5th March, 7.35pm (AEDT)
Interesting Friday night matchup here as Adelaide United take on the Newcastle Jets from 7.35pm. Adelaide have won their last two games on the trot, wins over the top of the table Central Coast Mariners and the Western Sydney Wanderers. They have plundered six goals in those two games and combined, those two games have resulted in 10 total goals.
The Jets sit in 10th place on the A-League table but could conceivably jump six spots all the way to fourth with a win on Friday night. The A-League has proven to be incredibly even this season but there’s no doubt that Adelaide come into this game in better form. They have lost at home to the Jets just twice since the 2013 season.
Melbourne Victory vs Melbourne City
Saturday 6th March, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Love the look of Melbourne City here. Their counterparts on Saturday night, the Victory, are in shambles at the moment, having lost four of their five games and won just two of nine games this season. The two sides haven’t met this season yet, but Melbourne City were 2-1 winners the last time they squared off back in February of last year.
Can’t really back the Victory with any sort of confidence at the moment. They were 4-3 losers on the weekend to a Western United team that had just 10 men for the last third of the game. They have scored just 10 goals in 9 games this season and allowed 17, the 2nd highest of any team in the competition.
Western United vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Sunday 7th March, 6.15pm (AEDT)
Interestingly, in Western United’s brief history in the A-League, they have never lost to the Western Sydney Wanderers. In three games, they have won two and drawn one and those three games have resulted in a total of 13 goals. Western United are also coming off a massively high scoring game on the weekend as they downed Melbourne Victory 4-3 and in their last game against Western Sydney, they recorded a 5-3 win.
Western United start as favourites here but I’m looking elsewhere for value. I think this is going to be another high scoring game, similar to their last clash.
