QUADDIE KING: CANTERBURY
MIDWEEK racing in Sydney returns to Canterbury this week where we have a highly competitive Quaddie to sort out. Let’s find some winners:
First leg: We start this Quaddie with a Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1900-metres:
SHADAL ($3.00) well-bred 3YO, second-up was solid 3rd here before starting fav and very strong winner Newcastle this trip. Fitter again, hard to beat.
IMANUI ($5.50) had two solid trials after long break, resumed with 3.7-length 10th Rosehill before close 4th Laussel, Canterbury. This trip ideal now, respect.
BALMAIN BOY ($4.80) form was OK before tough winning trial heavy ground, 2nd Canterbury and 3rd Warwick Farm since. One of the better chances.
KING TOMLOLA ($7.00) under-rated, won three on end before Canterbury 5th then strong all-the-way winner Hawkesbury last time 1800m. Fitter now, go well.
FANTASTIC MAN ($5.50) ran on well first-up 9th Newcastle before strong 3rd Shock Alert, Warwick farm. Has a genuine each-way chance here now fitter.
Second leg: This second leg is a Benchmark 74 Handicap over 1550-metres:
CARLUCA ($6.50) won a 75 here in December before a break, two good trials, three runs back were only just until last time just missed 2nd Shock Alert. On the way back.
BANNER SEASON ($4.20) impressive 3YO, won two on end before contested G1 Qld Derby 11th to Dark Dream. Has trialled since, rates very highly if ready.
EL DORADO MINE ($4.00) trialled well after short let-up, won a 74 at Warwick Farm first-up then just missed 3rd Mad For Art, Canterbury last time. Can win here.
HE’S A GIVEN ($7.50) veteran, good 3rd Laussel, Canterbury before last start 2nd to Speed Hero, Warwick Farm when had good backing and just missed. Racing well.
GAUGUIN ($4.60) returned from break with closing 6th Tonsor, Newcastle before 3-length 7th Curragh, Warwick Farm. Racing well and ready to win.
Third leg: This third leg is a Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1100-metres:
ALMANZORA ($2.35) impressive winning Warwick Farm on debut, close 5th Shoals, G2 Percy Sykes before close 4th Listed Woodlands, Scone in May. First-up, looks the one.
LIBERTY SONG ($9.00) Ex-Vic, in hot form, has now won past two dominant at Wangaratta before leading throughout Echuca last time. Can win again.
BLOWING KISSES ($6.50) form very respectable in decent races before break, two trials leading in here including winning at Randwick. Go well if ready.
STAR CROSSED ($8.00) was placed 3rd twice on end at Canterbury last prep, first-up close 9th Noble Joey, Randwick was good. Fitter now, has some chance.
Final leg: We finish with a Benchmark 77 Handicap over 1200-metres:
METAMORPHIC ($4.80) was favourite, led when 2nd Newcastle maiden before stunning win Scone maiden when odds-on. Fav and flopped very heavy ground last time. Go close.
SAVVAN ($7.00) 2nd Randwick Savatiano and again 2nd same venue this time behind Noire, latest 4th Reiby Rampart, Randwick heavy ground. Hard to beat.
SMARTEDGE ($2.65) has 2 wins 4 placings 10 starts. Ran 4th Dawn Dawn, Rosehill, then trialled well before 2nd Star Of Monsoon, Rosehill last time. Ready now.
GHOSTLY ($8.00) Godolphin runner, won Canterbury beating Star Of Monsoon in February, latest 2nd Osborne Bulls. Spell and two trials, watch very closely first-up.
SAMADOUBT ($8.00) form very solid last prep in good races, spell and trials, resumed with solid 7th Noble Joey, Randwick. Fitter now, this easier, claim helps. Respect.
