The Wolf’s best bet looks suited getting out to a mile at Warwick Farm.

WOLF’S BEST

Night Witches has shown good ability over middle distance trips so for her to be hitting the line really well over 1400m and then 1300m this time in is a great sign as she steps up to a mile third up. The I Am Invincible mare should be at peak fitness here and is ideally drawn in barrier three. She can sit a little closer here out in trip and should be too good for her rivals.

Rapids is a half brother to some quality horses including Shoals and Groundswell, and his recent trial suggests he should be hard to beat on debut here at Warwick Farm. He drew the inside over 1050m and hit the line well under a good ride. He draws to get soft run from the inside draw and blinkers going on for his debut suggests he should be ready to go. There are no stars among his rivals based on exposed form.

Golden Goal went through four different stables prior to his debut, but when he finally made it to the races here for the first time just over a fortnight ago, he looked very impressive, making solid ground to run third over 1350m. He has the pedigree to run a mile and a half so such an encouraging run over a short trip bodes well for his prospects in this race over 1690m, and he draws to get a nice run.

Miss Five Hundred was the subject of a huge betting move last start and it almost came off, but she just hit the front a fraction too soon and allowed Zoffala to grab her late. She gets a 2.5Kg weight swing off him for that defeat and a couple of interesting gear changes, winkers instead of blinkers and tongue tie on. A winner out to this trip, she looks excellent value.

Steamboat Rock got too far back on a very slow tempo last time out at Ballarat and hit the line well when the race was all over, following on from a most unlucky first up run. A well-bred four-year-old by Fastnet Rock, Jamie Kah (replacing Damien Oliver) takes over here on a horse that should be ready to peak third up. Bendigo generally suits horses running on late in the day and rain holds no fears.
