UPDATE: After the late scratching of Brooklyn Hustle, The Wolf’s Best Bet is a Godolphin galloper at Randwick.

WOLF’S BEST

Roheryn’s two winter runs have been terrific and the race fitness edge might prove decisive here against some talented horses resuming. Attractively weighted with just 53Kg, the Godolphin galloper chased home Eduardo last start who franked the form with a next start win in the Group 2 Missile Stakes. His natural pattern is to get back but he has a terrific turn of foot.

WOLF’S TIPS

Scone trainer Brett Cavanough brings a strong hand to this race with two impressive debut winners having their second start, but The Wolf thinks the market has them the wrong way round and has made It’s Me his top tip. He came from well back on debut to win running away and the form out of that race stood up well when Not Another Reiby, the runner up there, finished second to the smart filly Stellar Pauline at Hawkesbury on Thursday. It’s Me should sit about midfield and be strong late.

Smart Design has run second at all five career starts which would normally raise questions about how genuine a horse is but you go through his form and replays and he is just unlucky to, time and again, run into really smart horses in maiden company. This is a much weaker race than he has contested of late and he should get his chance.

Recommended Price: $2.10

Tigre Royale has come up an awfully attractive price for a horse who has won four straight races and didn’t even get out of first gear when winning last time at Sandown. Yes, he is up in class and weight but if ever there was a victory that suggested a horse was capable of stepping up, it is that one. He is ideally drawn and absolutely swims.

Con Te Partiro improved out of sight towards the end of last campaign with three outstanding performances in a row, two of which were Group 1 wins. A first up specialist (3 wins from 7), she has trialled well for this and draws to get a good run on the speed.

This race was absolutely turned on its head by scratchings and it leaves Dabiyr as being really hard to beat. The Chris Waller-trained six year old was excellent first up at Flemington behind Romancer and he flies around this track, having won twice from two attempts. It’s worth noting he won second up last campaign as well. Michael Rodd has plenty of options from the draw and while he has limited exposure on heavy ground his soft form overall is excellent.
