The Wolf’s best bet for Friday should relish getting out to a mile and a half at Geelong. Here are Friday’s racing tips.

WOLF’S BEST

St Arnicca flew home to finish third over 2100m last start at Geelong and looks ideally placed getting out to 2400m on the bigger Geelong track. The Canford Cliffs four-year-old placed fourth in Listed company over this trip as a three-year-old company so he has a touch of class. A recent hurdle trial should keep him up to the mark fitness wise.

WOLF’S TIPS

Alcudia made a good debut recently at Terang, closing off for fourth in what looked to be a good two-year-old race. She should have taken good benefit from that run and while she takes on the older horses here, there is not much depth to this race.
Recommended Price: $2.10
Confidence Level: 4/5

Swagger has been slightly disappointing at his last two starts after winning in dominant style prior, but back on his home track with blinkers going on for the first time he is worth another chance. The ex-Kiwi should go back from the wide draw and be powering home late.
Recommended Price: $3.70
Confidence Level: 4/5

Phaistos ran second in this race last year and can go one better in 2021. The James Cummings-trained gelding hit the line well first up at Randwick and given how he drifted in the market, he should take good improvement from that run. This year’s edition of the Scone Cup looks no stronger than last year and he went around at $3.80 in that.
Recommended Price: $7.00/2.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

Miles Ahead hit the line well first up over a mile at Ballarat and looks well placed out to 2025m here second up. The Archie Alexander trained son of Reliable Man was the only horse to make up significant ground there and from barrier three should hopefully position a little closer in the run. From barrier three, he should be hard to hold out.
Recommended Price: $3.00
Confidence Level: 4/5

Maritana has been racing very well without winning this prep and looks primed to break through here with blinkers going on for the first time. He placed second last time at Morphettville behind Aiguilette and ran third at Morphettville prior to that. The Julien Welsh trained gelding will need luck from the wide draw but should be awfully hard to beat if he gets it.
Recommended Price: $4.60
Confidence Level: 4/5
