Here’s a look at Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane quaddies for Saturday! Good luck!
Best: Arcaded – freshened after dominant Group 2 win in Sydney. Won Blue Diamond Prelude this track, highly promising filly.
Finance Tycoon – given a break after Blue Diamond fourth off a busy prep. Won the Maribyrnong Plate in November and then beat Shaquero at the Gold Coast.
Literary Magnate – steps-up after a brilliant debut win at Warrnambool. Still learning the caper, but big strong filly that has raw ability and sure to have taken natural improvement.
Starry Legend – unbeaten in two career starts. Showed good speed and plenty of kick in both wins. This toughest test and first go beyond 1000m, which is a little query.
Numbers: 10, 1, 13, 2.
Best: Sword Of Mercy – had the gun run and put them away nicely here last start. Mare in form, similar barrier and can box-seat again.
Ancestry – bolted in at Listed level at the Valley and then failed when on a seven day back-up. Has had a decent break between runs this time.
Alfa Oro – had every chance when third to Sword of Mercy. That was first run since October and he hit the line okay, fitter for this.
Prophet’s Thumb – first-up and trialled well in 800m heat at Cranbourne. Sat deep the entire and closed well. Good record fresh and in the money five of six this track.
Numbers: 5, 1, 10, 4.
Best: How Womantic – edged out at Listed level last start and beaten 3.3lens in Oakleigh Plate prior. Kept ticking over with a fast finishing trial second at Cranbourne. Rails draw and Kah are positives.
Broadwayandfourth – resumed and couldn’t stay in touch over 1000m here last start and finished off strongly late. Extra distance suits, well drawn and decent second-up record.
Laverrod – ripped home from well back to beat How Womantic at Mornington. Rises 6kgs and meets that mare 2kgs worse, but very honest.
Felicia – Group 3 winner here before a spell. Showed she is on track for big first-up run with dominant 800m trial win at Cranbourne, when she led throughout.
Numbers: 3, 7, 1, 6.
Best: Good And Proper – dropped out to last from his wide gate and relaxed a little too much. Flashed home late, that was first run for six weeks so fitter and better alley this time.
Don’ttelltheboss – mile was too far last start and she battled on okay behind Sovereign Award, in the worst part of the track. Since trialled very well to win her 800m heat at Cranbourne.
Thousand Wishes – she’s not a noted first-up performer and did it tough when resuming. In the money all four runs when second-up, D. Lane and two alley are positives.
La Chevalee – strung a couple of wins together before a spell. Showed speed in Cranbourne trial and not knocked about in heat won by Rubisaki. Has plenty of upside and should be hitting the line hard.
Numbers: 14, 12, 6, 5.
Best: Miami Bound – had a good prep’ with four runs from a break. She flashed home, from well back, for third to Sir Dragonet in the Tancred and drops 5kgs.
Realm Of Flowers – was not entitled to get as close as she did when second to Favorite Moon. Three wide no cover for the entire 2400m of the Manion Cup. Brave effort and placed this distance.
Southern France – fitter for two runs in almost a year and was on the heels of the placegetters in the Tancred. He did some work, three wide, from the 800m and kept finding.
Favorite Moon – had all the favours in the Manion to score a strong win. That was first run since October so can only be fitter.
Numbers: 7, 13, 2, 10.
Best: Mugatoo – he ran super in the Doncaster for fourth. The step-up from a mile is ideal and provided the good 4 rating stays, he could cause an upset.
Verry Elleegant – great mare. Love her and no knock, she just races best with the cut out of the track. Stirring win over Addeybb and apart from Sir Dragonet not a lot behind them. Track downgrade she’s the best.
Addeybb – great first-up second to Verry Elleegant and will have taken a lot of improvement. Blinkers go on and fitness level will have risen.
Numbers: 3, 7, 1.
Best: Probabeel – won Group 1 Futurity and then didn’t handle the going in the All-Star Mile. Back against her own sex and a nice trial win at Randwick should have her primed for this.
Odeum – Melbourne filly better for first run the Sydney way of going. She looked home in the Listed Darby Munro, but was nabbed on the line by Isotope. Third-up can get the gun run.
Vangelic – raced well in two Group 1’s before an ease-up. Led and cruised to the line in a 1045m Randwick barrier trial. Will race on the bunny and more than capable of mixing it with these.
Colette – had a tough three wide run, no cover, when 5th to Verry Elleegant in the Ranvet and pulled up lame. Capable mare and any track downgrade will improve her chances.
Numbers: 1, 11, 12, 2.
Best: Tricky Gal – cramped for room and in the slow lane when fast finishing second to Seasons. Meets that mare 4.5kgs better and wider gate is a plus as she likes to get to the outside.
Seasons – two super runs this prep’ and latest won the Group 3 Birthday Card. Should be able to find a nice spot from her rails draw.
Wandabaa – too far back in the Birthday Card and made up a stack of ground late at Rosehill. Third-up now and suited by the long run in at Randwick.
Fiesta – out of her league in the Group 1 Galaxy and more like a barrier trial. Drops in grade, back against own sex, Bowman-Waller so can turn things around.
Numbers: 8, 7, 11, 4.
Best: Dr Why Not – won two in a row and latest fourth this grade. Well weighted with 3kg claim and maps well from his good gate.
Golly Hutt – game second to Wren’s Day last start when faced the breeze, three wide throughout. Fresh for this and expected high tempo will suit his pattern.
Euro Belle – down in class after solid third behind Jadentom at the Gold Coast when not at home in heavy9. Back on top of the ground and should be close to peak.
Contemptuous – slow away and well back in the run at latest start, but worked home solidly when the race was over. Slightly longer trip should suit.
Numbers: 4, 5, 10, 9.
Best: Junction – led and battled on behind In His Stride, this track and distance. He’s won here and comes into this on the back of three decent runs.
So You Win – resuming and capable of running well fresh. Sat second in a Gold Coast trial and Dittman had a lap full of horse at the end of his 1000m heat.
Get Stuck In – showed speed in a 1000m Doomben trial and not knocked around at the end. Not the greatest record when first-up, but no world beaters and races well this track.
Numbers: 5, 2, 1.
Best: Kylease – lumped 59kgs, hit the front a long way out and ran down late this track and distance, by Le Palmier. Well drawn, drops 5kgs and meets that horse 4kgs better.
Vega One – class animal having first run since unplaced in the Stradbroke last June. Led in 1000m Doomben trial and comfortable winner, which suggests he has come back in good order, but this not his Waterloo.
Master Jamie – resuming tough honest gelding led all of the way this track before a spell. First-up record is good an in the mix from the good barrier.
Pizonie – disappointed at first-up run, but vet reported lame in both forelegs. He’s better than that, down in weight, rails draw so likely improver.
Numbers: 5, 1, 2, 6.
Best: Bonaparte – pushed on to lead from wide gate last start and fought on for fourth here. Back in trip is a plus and can box-seat from the good barrier.
The Dark – in the money all four runs this track. Latest missed the start and did best work late, rock hard fit and can get the right run.
Enterprise Keren – having a good prep with two wins from last three. This toughest test, down in weight and well drawn.
Axe – in form and dominant last start win at the Gold Coast. First go at Eagle Farm and best form is with the sting out of track, which is not likely here.
Numbers: 6, 13, 10, 3.
