The Wolf’s best bet ran second to a subsequent Group 1 winner last time out and looks poised to make amends at Randwick. Here are Saturday’s racing tips.

WOLF’S BEST

The Irishman has been outstanding at both runs since landing in Australia. The ex-Kiwi was impressive in beating the older horses on the Kensington track, before just getting nailed late in the Phar Lap Stakes by subsequent Group 1 winner Hungry Heart. The Mark Newnham trained gelding draws perfectly and should be too strong late.

WOLF’S TIPS

Dollar For Dollar has not won in 966 days leading into this race but he will never get a better opportunity to win another race. That intervening period has not been devoid of good performances though, especially last spring where he posted back to back second placings in the Group 1 Rupert Clarke and Group 2 Gilgai Stakes. He gets the claim here and more importantly, should get the run of the race in a small field devoid of much speed.
Recommended Price: $3.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

Sacramento has been defeated at his last two starts after posting three straight wins but he should have lost no admirers in the process. Defeat last time came in what looked to be a strong Manion Cup run at a fast tempo. He looks far and away the most promising horse here and if he sees out the 2600m, should be too classy for his rivals.
Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

The Wolf has no knock on the favourite Anamoe but he looks no value at almost even money. There should not be that much between him and Four Moves Ahead in the betting. She gets back to Randwick on soft ground where she is a proven performer and draws to get the run of the race from barrier two.
Recommended Price: $4.60
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

Sky Lab was the clear run of the race in the Rosehill Guineas which looks the strongest form reference coming into this race. He profiles well to run a strong 2400m and is ideally drawn. In what looks a moderate Derby, he should prove hard to beat.
Recommended Price: $4.60

This race contains a number of horses who have incredible talent on their day but are also capable of disappointing. Under the circumstances, the best way to attack it is to find the horse with the highest ceiling of performance, who gets the best opportunity to show it. That should be Bivouac. He can slot midfield from barrier two off what will be a hot tempo and has a blinding finish on his day. The entire also relishes soft ground.
Recommended Price: $4.00

Mo’unga comes to the 2021 Doncaster in outstanding form and is pitched in with 49.5Kg. The sticking point is the barrier, and that can be genuinely problematic despite the mile at Randwick being a fair start and given the colt’s tendency to get back in his races. Despite this, there is no horse The Wolf would rather be with.

It’s not often that horses don’t improve after joining the Will Clarken stable and He’s A Balter looks like a horse capable of going right through his grades. The winner of just two races, he has placed second another five times and has shown sufficient talent to win plenty more. Expect him to get back here but the tempo looks genuine and he can fly home late.
Recommended Price: $3.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

Perfect Radiance is having her first start for Joe Pride after showing some good ability when previously trained by Kris Lees. At her last start for Lees she started favourite in a Group 3 so she clearly has ability. From barrier three she should get the gun run off a strong speed. Her trials have been excellent.
Recommended Price: $15/4.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

Brazen Brando had a frustrating run over summer with three placings from as many starts but looks well placed here first up. He showed blistering speed in a recent jumpout so expect him to go straight to the front from the inside draw.
Recommended Price: $6.00
