The Wolf’s best bet is a promising Tasmanian galloper at Sandown. Here are Wednesday’s racing tips.

WOLF’S BEST

Tassie galloper And Beyond is unbeaten in three career starts and looks well placed to make it four from four here at Sandown. The Wordsmith gelding’s most recent win was the most impressive, missing the start and coming from well back in the run to round up his rivals in the matter of a couple of strides. This race is naturally stronger but he looks one right out of the box.

WOLF’S TIPS

Syracuse has been good at both career starts and gets her chance to go one better here. The John O’Shea trained filly finished fourth on debut behind the very smart Hilal, then ran second last time out at Randwick behind all the way winner Bourbon Flyer. O’Shea has elected to put blinkers on for the first time here and this is a nice race for her.

Aegon winning the Hobartville Stakes a couple of weeks served a timely reminder that Kiwi three year olds are perenially underrated and while The Irishman is not in his class, he comes across the Tasman with some nice form, including a last start second to boom three year old Brando. Now with Mark Newnham, he has trialled well and should be finishing off hard.

Mystery Shot disappointed first up but bounced back strongly last start at Caulfield and can win again here. The Lindsey Smith trained gelding has a formidable winning record (five from seven) and last start had the misfortune to run into the exceptionally talented Regardsmaree. Lachlan Neindorf will just need a little luck from the wide draw.
Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

Beehunter has had chronic bad luck throughout his career and his record should read much better than two wins from fourteen starts. The John Sadler trained gelding resumes here from a short break and strikes the easiest race he has contested for some time. From barrier four Damien Oliver should get the gun run and if – a big if – the breaks go his way, he is more than capable of winning here.
