Here’s a look at Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane quaddies for Saturday! Good luck!
6-Ramsden Stakes (Listed, 2800m)
Best: Miami Bound – Group 1 placed last two starts and has had a month freshen after Sydney Cup third.
Realm Of Flowers – closed strongly for fifth in the Sydney Cup and loves the cut out of the track.
Through Irish Eyes – won this track and distance last start lightly raced and in money 5 of six starts.
Numbers: 5, 6, 9.
7-Silver Bowl (Three-Years-Old, 1400m)
Best: Rathlin – missed the bob and beaten a nose this track and distance last start. Was a month between runs so should be fitter now.
Ranting – got too far back in Adelaide, no threat but closed well. Gets a claim and out to 1400m will work.
Cumberbatch – drew wide went back to last most recent. Has a month between runs so the drop back in distance is ideal.
Celestial Sol – fitter for three runs and latest raced handy in high tempo race here. Got tight at the end and wound-up just behind Rathlin.
Numbers: 4, 1, 5, 7.
8-Open Handicap (1400m)
Best: Reykjavik – too far back in the Wangoom and did best work the last 200m. Down in class, longer distance a plus and he’s a winner this track and distance.
Viral – resumes and didn’t get out of second gear in Flemington 800m jump-out win. Listed placed before a spell and gets in with just 52kgs after the 2kg claim.
Yulong January – races handy which is a plus this track and distance. Was second-up and fought hard for second at Sandown so can only be fitter.
Bumper Blast – not far away in the Wangoom and didn’t get a lot of luck down the running. Third-up and has a good record this track.
Numbers: 1, 12, 7, 11.
9-Benchmark 78 (1600m)
Best: Dirty Deeds – bridesmaid at last three starts and deserves a change of luck. Blinkers go on and rails draw is a positive.
Prince Of Helena – will appreciate a 5.5kg weight drop after close second to Reformist last start. Handles the soft and is very honest.
Ocean Miss – close second in tougher grade, this track and distance last start. Jock doesn’t ride too many Saturday city winners, but this mare is in form.
Falls – in the money last three starts including a win at Pakenham last start when lumped 61.5kgs. Up in grade, but drops to 53.5kgs after the claim, so well in.
Numbers: 14, 15, 10, 11.
6-Luskin Star Stakes (Listed, 1300m)
Best: Lost And Running – highly promising four-year-old was dominant winner last start and won five of six career. Class rise should not pose a problem and very well weighted.
Bandersnatch – resuming and goes well fresh. Trialled okay at Warwick Farm and heavy track is no problem.
Numbers: 7, 4.
7-Ortensia Stakes (Listed, 1100m)
Best: Fituese – class mare resuming and ticks some boxes. Could have won her Randwick trial, placed in heavy, two from two this track and distance and unbeaten in three first-up runs.
Embracer – did it tough three wide and still managed to draw away for a strong win at Hawkesbury. That was first run since July so expect further improvement.
Adelong – fitter for two runs from a spell latest didn’t shirk when third to Embracer, after leading. Unbeaten in two runs on heavy and should be peaking.
California Zimbol – ran two super races at Group 3 level then latest no luck when trapped deep throughout in G2. Rock hard fit and will appreciate the drop in class.
Numbers: 13, 5, 14, 3.
8-Benchmark 78 (1100m)
Best: De Grawin – smart mare in the money all six starts including wins at last four before a spell. Two of those were on heavy tracks and she should be primed after two solid trials.
Hulk – resuming, first-up record is solid and has been placed in heavy going. Two trials and Berry-Waller combine.
Belluci Babe – untried in heavy and placed on soft going and was good winner at Hawkesbury last month. Has since trialled strongly and will race on the bunny.
Ocean Emperor – didn’t get a lot of room last start and not far away at Hawkesbury this grade. Rails draw is a plus and has won in soft going.
Our Bellagio Miss – first-up since January and won this grade before her break. Trialled strongly and two-time winner in heavy going.
Numbers: 8, 5, 6, 10, 15.
9-Benchmark 78 (1400m)
Best: Count De Rupee – placed only start in heavy and can only be fitter after close second when resuming. Nice alley and Berry to pilot.
Lucicello – tardy away at Randwick last start and held ground in the run to the line in tougher grade. Heavy track winner and should be peaking for this after three runs from a break.
Vitesse – solid first-up run when second at Hawkesbury this class. Second-up runs are usually better and she is proven in wet ground.
Oscar Zulu – has trialled twice and did well in tougher G3 company before a spell. Won in soft and two from two when first-up.
Numbers: 16, 6, 15, 22.
6-Rough Habit Plate (Group 3, 2000m)
Best: Senor Toba – hit the line hard to win the Group 3 Packer Plate at Randwick, over this trip. Waller trained and J-Mac gives a lead saddle-hopping off High Supremacy to ride.
High Supremacy – twice placed this level and latest battled on strongly for second to Senor Toba. Bred to get further and has been placed in soft 7.
Kukeracha – battled away for third to in G2 Qld Guineas, drawn to get the gun run and step- up from 1600m should work.
Khoekhoe – ran two nice races in two Sydney G1’s then was plain and 12lens adrift of Senor Toba latest. Placed in heavy, so wet track may help turn things around.
Numbers: 7, 8, 4, 1.
7-Doomben 10,000 (Group 1, 1200m)
Best: Eduardo – hard to see anything catching him around this tight circuit. He will do no work from the good alley and wet or dry is no problem.
Vega One – comes into this third-up and on the back of a solid second in G2 behind Niccanova. Not far away in G1 Stradbroke last year. Good gate and two time winner here and also won in heavy.
Splintex – on-speed and good win in G3 Hall Mark at Randwick. Lacks the class of some rivals, but heavy track and one alley, from a tricky starting point, bring him into the mix.
Wild Ruler – would be up the order on a dry track. Promising three-year-old won two of last three including latest game G2 win at Randwick. Best wet is a second in soft and no heavy form.
Numbers: 2, 6, 5, 9.
8-Bright Shadow Stakes (Listed, 1200m)
Best: Outback Barbie – almost impossible to win from wide gates this start, but her pattern is to get back. Ran a great race behind Splintex in Sydney and back against own sex here, will be hitting the line.
Athiri – class mare resumed and forget run when never saw daylight 10th of 14 at Hawkesbury. Previous form was super including Listed win at Eagle Farm.
Maozi – placed this level before a break. Didn’t get a lot of luck when resumed for fourth in easier company. Second-up record is solid and placed in heavy going.
Fiesta – she is fresh for this with a month between runs. Her fifth to Fasika, in G2 Sapphire was decent and she has been kept ticking over with a soft trial.
Numbers: 4, 3, 13, 1.
9-Benchmark 85 (1350m)
Best: Axe – dominant winner two starts back. Latest had a tough run and was game second to Skins. No heavy form, but has been in the money five of six in soft going and rock hard fit.
Constant Flight – found the mile too far last start in Listed company. Drop in distance is a positive and nicely weighted after the 3kg claim.
Segalas – honest mare and she closed well at the end of 1200m at Randwick last start. Steps up in distance which is a plus and in the money all four on a heavy track
Superium – fitter for two Melbourne runs and was placed in both at Caulfield. Prefer on drier track, winkers go on and he should be peaking for this.
Numbers: 11, 2, 7, 10.
