The Wolf’s best bet comes up in the last at Flemington.

WOLF’S BEST

Cordilla showed she is in for a big campaign with a terrific first up run at Moonee Valley. Sitting back of midfield, she worked into the line nicely around the turn but had absolutely nowhere to go in the home straight. With even luck she could have won. The form out of that race has been outstanding and Damien Oliver should give her the perfect run from the good draw here.

WOLF’S TIPS

Betcha Flying should be at peak fitness third up and looks nicely placed here in midweek company. The Chris Waller-trained mare has shown in the past she can race well on the speed so look for apprentice Thomas Stockdale to have her no worse than behind the leaders. She charged home last time behind the very capable Discharged – who has won again since – so with the claim she should take plenty of beating here.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

Albarado has shown plenty of ability and looks a good chance at odds here with blinkers on for the first time. By Savabeel, whose progeny usually excel with shades on, he won on debut at Ballarat back in May before placing over this track and trip behind the smart Cherry Tortoni when next seen. He did enough first up at Mornington and should be much better suited at this trip.

Recommended Price: $7.50/2.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

There looks more speed here than an Olympic 100m final and that should set it up for something running on, and Black Magnum fits the bill nicely. To say he has been unlucky this time in is an understatement, but The Wolf is prepared to be more forgiving than the bookies who put him up at very nice each way odds.

Recommended Price: $9.00/3.00

This is a race of some depth as you would expect of a midweeker at Flemington but nothing in this field has shown the talent of Ocular. Trainer Shea Eden got him out to a mile last campaign and he ran well on class along but The Wolf thinks he is better off as a specialist sprinter and that was certainly borne out by his emphatic first up win at Bendigo. This looks a suitable progression and he should prove too good.

Recommended Price: $2.80

Affair To Remember has had two runs back from a spell and should be primed to peak third up. The Group 1 placegetter (in this year’s Australasian Oaks) hit the line well first up at Caulfield then had things against her last time at Group 2 level in the Let’s Elope, but still sprinted home in 33.19. Getting out to a mile suits and with a capacity field here there should be a genuine tempo.
