The Wolf’s best bet broke her maiden last start in dominant style. Here are Wednesday’s racing tips.

WOLF’S BEST

Tycoon Bucks took longer than anticipated to break her maiden but did so in impressive style last start. Not only did she thrash her rivals, but she ran clearly the fastest time of the three 1400m races on the same day, including the BM64. That bodes well stepping up in class and the booking of Damien Oliver is a strong push.

WOLF’S TIPS

Salute The Cannons did a massive job on debut to come from last and run third. He showed an impressive turn of foot but just had to course a little too wide and no doubt Jacob Opperman would have learned a lot from riding him there. With even luck here the Sue Murphy trained gelding should be too good.

Grimesy took longer than anticipated to break his maiden but despite being a big drifter in betting, did the job in impressive style last time at Gawler, coming from well back to run away and score impressively. Naturally this race is harder but he is capable of figuring here.

Space Is Deep has long shaped as a horse who would get better as the distances got longer so keen to be with him here over the 2600m. He has to turn the tables on La Grisa for a last start defeat but the market looks to have overreacted to that defeat and he does get a 3Kg weight swing. The prospect of some rain further enhances his chances.
Recommended Price: $4.00

Barade looks well placed to turn the tables on Double You Tee in the Lanceston Cup. There was just under a couple of lengths between them in the Hobart Cup but Barade gets a 4Kg weight swing which can make a big difference over this sort of trip. Added to the fact that Barade was five weeks between runs there, and Brenton Avdulla has come down for the ride, and it looks a good formula for success.
Recommended Price: $4.50

Mr Raikkonen hit the line really strongly first up at Moonee Valley and looks well placed here. The Lloyd Kennewell trained gelding didn’t break his maiden until he got out to 1400m last prep so can obviously expected to improve out in trip. Favourably drawn, he should take plenty of beating here.
