Queensland v New South Wales
After Uncle Wayne outsmarted us all and led QLD to an upset victory in Game 1, it’s tough to know what to expect in Game 2 from either side. NSW will undoubtedly be better whilst questions remain on how much better QLD can play. I’m staying away from the match betting but leaning to the plus and overs if forced to bet.
Man of the Match tips
If the Maroons can wrap up the series tonight, then I think it will be on the back of Cameron Munster. He’s starting to run the ball more and that’s where he is at his most dangerous. I was tempted to play Josh Papalii but would prefer mid 20s so instead, I’ll take Val at $26. This price looks far too big for a fullback and whilst he’s likely a length or two away from peak match fitness and performance, he’s got enough raw talent that warrants value in his price.
For the Blues to keep the series alive they must win and the obvious contenders for man of the match are the deserved favourites in James Tedesco and Cody Walker. Teddy just finds another gear in Origin and I’m happy to be on him every match at anything over $5. Cody Walker is the new man in and arguably the hottest player in the comp. I have to imagine he will be in everything. I’ll be shocked if either of these two players don’t take the medal if Blues are to win. If you are looking for a roughie, I love Nathan Brown, but I don’t love his price. Was hoping for 50s as 34s seems a little skinny for someone who may not play more than 30 mins. That said if he somehow gets 60 mins, he is very noticeable and runs like a man possessed.
Try Scorer tips
For the Pie Shop, I’m giving away a couple of pies I like at juicy odds.
As previously mentioned, Cody Walker should be in everything and touching the pill multiple times a set, specifically down the left side but can pop up anywhere. He’s a great bet anytime try scorer at $3.10. Speaking of the left, Angus Crichton is huge odds at $5 and likely to play 80 mins on the edge outside Walker. Great bet.
For some QLD meat, I like Munster, Papalii, Coates, Gagai and Capewell all at juicy odds. Whilst I think Gagai and Coates are better chances, I’ll side with some value and take Papalii at $7 and Capewell at a ridiculous $5.50.
