Six games on Tuesday’s NBA slate and The Wolf is looking for CP3 to continue dishing out the dimes against the Trail Blazers, while he reckons he’s found some value in Wesley Matthews putting up 10+ pts against the Wizards defence. Here are Tuesday’s NBA tips.
The 19-10 Phoenix Suns host the 18-11 Portland Trail Blazers in what should be a good battle between two teams in the top five of the Western Conference.
Despite a 35 pt outing by Damian Lillard against the Wizards, the Trail Blazers six-game winning streak came to end in the 118-111 result last time out. So they’ll be extra keen to get back on track and have won their last three on the road.
Meanwhile, the Suns are in equally as good form with eight wins in their last nine, which should really be 9-0 because of an ugly second-half collapse against the Nets.
The team should be well-rested for this matchup considering they rested most of their starters in a comfortable 128-97 win over the undermanned Grizzlies last time out.
One of the key matchups in this game will be Chris Paul versus Dame and The Wolf is keen on Paul’s fairly generous assist line.
The Trail Blazers allowed 13 assists to Russell Westbrook in their latest game and Paul can put up similar numbers.
He’s also beaten 10+ assists in nine games this season and recently amassed 19 dimes against the Pelicans.
The Los Angeles Lakers will look to get on track after two straight defeats as they face the in-form Washington Wizards.
Washington is enjoying a mid-season resurgence after three straight wins on their home court against the Nuggets, Rockets and Celtics. Previously, they also upset the Trail Blazers by 7 pts in Portland.
Beal is coming off 37 pts in that game and should enjoy a nice matchup against the Lakers without Dennis Schroder.
Meanwhile, LeBron vs Westbrook will be an intriguing battle between two superstars.
At the moment, the Lakers are struggling through an injury crisis and have lost back to back games to the Heat and Nets.
But with Anthony Davis and Schroder on the sidelines, this opens up opportunities for the Lakers’ lesser-known brigade, including Wesley Matthews.
Matthews is coming off 10 pts against the Heat as he played 31 minutes and took 10 field goal attempts including 7 three-point attempts.
So the volume and usage is there, as well as a good matchup against a Wizards team that’s not known for their defence.
