After being snubbed from the starting line-up of the All Star Game, The Wolf expects Damian Lillard to go big when his Trail Blazers take on the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
It’s the first time the Lakers and Heat meet this season off the back of the 2020 NBA Finals, with both teams not playing their best basketball at the moment.
The Lakers will be without key players Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder and will look for their role players to pick up the offensive load, but it won’t come from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
KCP has failed to score double-digits in his last seven games shooting the ball at 34% from the field, failing to clear the 9.5 points line in 10 of his last 12 games.
The Heat are a good defensive unit especially in the backcourt, restricting point guards scoring to 18% below average over the last month, and the shooting guard spot which KCP will occupy by 8% below average.
Expect Kyle Kuzma, Talen Horton-Tucker and Montrezl Harrell (if they play him more than 15 minutes) to pick-up the offensive load, but it won’t be KCP.
After being snubbed from the starters of the upcoming All-Star game, The Wolf expects to see ‘chip on his shoulder’ Dame when he faces the Wizards.
Lillard is third in the NBA in scoring over the last month averaging 31.6 points per game, leading the Trail Blazers to victories in eight of their last nine games.
Coming off 43 points against the Pelicans – the fourth easiest team in the NBA for point guards to score against over the last month, he now gets a look at Washington who are the third easiest team for point guards to score against over that period.
The one-spot are scoring points 13% above average against the Wizards over the last month, with Lillard scoring 32 points in their win last time they met – he also shot the ball at a pretty ordinary clip of 39%.
Expect Dame to shoot it a bit better this time around leading Portland to their seventh consecutive win.
