Bradley Beal won’t play again for Washington on Thursday, so The Wolf expects Rui Hachimura to be Russell Westbrook’s primary assist target when they face the Hawks again.

Here are The Wolf’s NBA tips for Thursday.

Best Bet

The Celtics under Brad Stevens are notoriously a good defensive team, but we can throw that logic in the bin now. They’ve really had a shocking season by their lofty standards and defensively they’re a mile off it at the moment.

From the last ten games the Celtics are 26th for points conceded giving up 120.9 points per game, winning just three of the last ten games. Their recent run includes giving up the following:

  • 129 and 130 to Miami in consecutive games
  • 121 to Chicago
  • 96 to Orlando (but they’re a G-League team)
  • 129 to Portland
  • 140 to San Antonio
  • 111 to Charlotte
  • 119 to OKC
  • 125 to Charlotte

They’re up against the Cavs in this who enter with an 11-game losing streak, giving up 120.6 points per game from the last ten – ranked 25th just ahead of Boston.

Both times they’ve met this season the total points cleared 216.5 finishing on 244 and 227, with Boston’s last nine games finishing above the 216.5 total points line – as for the Cavs it’s five of their last seven.

The Wolf expects Boston to be too good in this, but I’m more confident in the total points clearing the low 216.5 points line.

Value Bet

No Bradley Beal for Washington which means a high usage game is on the cards for Russ’ second scoring option against the Hawks on Thursday – Rui Hachimura.

Hachimura had a season-high usage of 30.8 last game against Atlanta with Beal missing and Washington face the Hawks again in this one.

His usage has been low this season alongside Beal and Westbrook but since February 25 Hachimura has managed a usage of 20 or more on nine occasions from 32 games – from those nine games, he’s scored 20+ points on eight occasions including last game against Atlanta.

His line is currently set at 16.5 which he has cleared on all nine occasions, averaging 23.8 points and 18.4 field goal attempts with a 20+ usage since February 25.

With Westbrook’s assist numbers through the roof, expect him to find Rui when they face the Hawks on Thursday.
