Eleven NBA games this Saturday, and The Wolf expects Nikola Jokic to lead the Nuggets to a win when they head to Phoenix. Here are The Wolf’s NBA tips.
A week break for health protocols couldn’t come at a worse time for the Phoenix Suns sitting at 7-4, and it appears they’ve lost a bit of momentum based on their last two results.
In their first game back from the week spell the Suns lost to Memphis, and then despite leading the entire game against Houston they made hard work of it late winning by just six points.
As for the Nuggets, they’ve started slowly despite the dominance of Nikola Jokic but they have won four of their last six games with their losses coming to the quality of Brooklyn and Utah.
It looks like a nice matchup for Denver, with Nikola Jokic their go-to guy and despite the Suns being a quality defensive outfit, they do struggle defending the five-spot. This season centres are scoring 5% above average against the Suns, 11% above average for triples and 9% above average for rebounds – perfect for another huge Nikola Jokic game.
Deandre Ayton is a big man, but he’s really going to struggle defending the versatility of Jokic and with Denver’s offense going through him the entire game it really puts the Nuggets at an advantage in this. Expect a low-scoring encounter as we’ve seen with a number of Phoenix games this season, but the Serbian will lead the Nuggets to victory.
The Houston Rockets will face the Pistons minus Christian Wood who injured his ankle against the Suns, and as a result we’ll see Victor Oladipo occupy majority of the offensive load.
Oladipo had 32 points against the Bulls followed by 22 against the Suns, but Phoenix defend the Point Guard spot better than most teams in the NBA with the 1-guard spot down 11% on league average for points.
Christian Wood has averaged 23.5 points this season so the offensive load will be occupied by Oladipo and Eric Gordon. With Oladipo having 23 and 22 shot attempts in his first two games with the Rockets, this field goal attempt number is likely to hit 25+ which should correlate to points when he faces the Pistons.
Trae Young is coming off a 38-point game against the Pistons, previously having a high of 26 in his last six games, and I expect Oladipo to easily produce 25 points – the 30+ at $4.20 is also worth a look.
Nuggets win, Victor Oladipo Over 23.5 Points, Kevin Durant 25+ Points = $5.93
