Wednesday’s NBA action features two games on ESPN/Kayo. In the morning, The Wolf is backing Serge Ibaka to play his role against the Celtics at TD Garden. Meanwhile, two of the best defences meet in the afternoon in Los Angeles as the Lakers host the Suns. As a result, The Wolf is keen on a low scoring affair.
The 24-11 Los Angeles Lakers are back in form after two straight wins and they’ll host the 22-11 Phoenix Suns this Wednesday at Staples.
With the return of Dennis Schroder in the last two games, the Lakers’ defence has been excellent in wins over the Warriors 117-91 and Trail Blazers 102-9 and The Wolf is anticipating a similar defensive battle with the stingy Phoenix defence involved.
Similarly to the Lakers, the Suns have allowed under 100 pts in their last two wins and average around 100 pts allowed in their last four wins.
This all correlates towards the unders in this matchup as a very solid bet with two of the better West defences involved.
While this is the first meeting between the two teams this season, the unders does have a good record in this matchup as it’s saluted in all of the last five meetings at Staples.
In the early morning feature game on ESPN/Kayo, the 17-17 Boston Celtics will aim for a third straight win as they host the 24-12 Los Angeles Clippers.
The Boston Celtics aren’t quite back to their best just yet but back to back wins over the Wizards and Pacers will help their cause.
With Jaylen Brown struggling through an ongoing knee issue, the Celtics lineup is a bit unknown at this stage so The Wolf will be focusing on the Clippers.
Los Angeles will be looking for some consistency after a string of win/loss results. They’ll be coming off a close 105-100 loss to the Bucks as Leonard led the scoring with 25 pts.
In this matchup against Boston, the Celtics have struggled all season against Centres and that should see Serge Ibaka play a key role for LA here.
The Wolf is liking his rebounding form after collecting 11 against the Bucks last time out and as a result, 8+ boards looks a nice value bet. He’s also beaten 10+ rebounds in five games this season, which is worth a punt as well.
