Two years ago, 53,000 people packed the Adelaide Oval to see the Crows triumph in the 2019 AFLW Grand Final. It was a milestone in women’s sport proving just how much interest there is in the league.
Fast forward to now and we’re back in the same place, at hopefully another packed out Adelaide Oval, with the number one and two sides in the competition meeting each other.
The AFL couldn’t ask for a better result.
The Crows are coming in favourites here – understandable given they finished on top, they have that home crowd advantage and the most decorated player in the league in their team in Erin Phillips.
However, Brisbane have flown under the radar the entire season. They’ve barely put a foot wrong and have a huge amount of scoring power in their forward line with the most number of goal kickers in the competition.
I think this is going to be a close one. Grand finals are hard to predict, we know that. However, I’m going with Adelaide in the big win little win market (1-39).
Being the only club in the competition with no rival club in its city, they have a great player retention rate. You can buy plenty of things in the world, but finals experience isn’t one of them – you have to learn that yourself and 20 out of the Crows’ 30 person squad this weekend were around for their last flag in 2019.
Dakota Davidson and Erin Phillips have been consistent green ticks in my featured multis all year, so I’m sticking with them for any time goal scorers in this match. They’re both the top goalscorer for their team and sit third and sixth respectively in the league goal-scoring tally.
Eb Marinoff is basically un-taggable and she is a tackling machine. She thrives in big time matches and had 35 disposals in their preliminary final last week, so I’m chucking her in my featured multi for 25 touches.
Enjoy this one, punters – it’s been two years in the making!
