Yep the UFC is back baby, after the longest break without a show that I can remember. With the sport taking off quicker than a pensioner on Viagra, it was a tad weird not having any big fellas punching on in the last 5 weeks. The fun and games kick off again on Sunday when the Light Heavyweight belt goes on the line, in a battle pitting the Champ Jon “Bones”Jones against “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort.
Analyzing this fight is an interesting exercise, as I never thought these 2 would be standing opposite each other in the Octagon. Jones is a man so in his prime that he would out prime a rack of delicious Prime ribs at a Hogs Breath Cafe! Vitor is an old school champ of the UFC, he is so old school he once went for a nudie run with Will Ferrell! Vitor has done it all in the UFC and is destined to be a hall of famer when he eventually retires. However when injuries hit the UFC 152 card, and others refused to answer Dana‘s call to fight Bones, Vitor was 1 of only 2 fighters (mad Chael Sonnen was the other) to say “let’s get it on”!
So how is this fight going to go down?
For those of you that don’t know the sweet science of fighting or the combatants of this Main Event, I will explain my prediction using other analogies. How did Bjorn Borg go when he made a comeback with a wooden racket against younger players? How did Ali go against Larry Holmes when he tried to face a bigger, stronger and younger opponent? How did Madonna look standing next to Megan Fox recently? Jones will smash and retire Vitor and it won’t be pretty. You will see a superstar fighter, fighting a game but washed up opponent. I expect Jones will give the fans some value for money and let Vitor off lightly in the 1st round, before dropping the bomb on him in the 2nd and walking off into the sunset with his belt. My question to you is- Who the hell can beat this guy??
