Browny’s Best: Round 6
- Updated: April 27, 2017
This footy season, resident tipster and footy legend (he told us to write that) Nathan Brown will be providing his best bets before every round. The great man definitely fancies himself as a punter and is relishing the chance to provide Sportsbet readers with his unique insider’s perspective. He’s also relishing the chance to get his mug on another one of your screens!
This week has seen the lines move around more than Dale Kickett in his playing days.
Greater Western Sydney vs Western Bulldogs
I liked GWS at the line of –15.5, which has now moved to –21.5. Even so, I still like it.
The Bulldogs have had to come from behind on four occasions this year, trailing four games at quarter time. Against the Giants, this will be too hard to reel in as GWS have won their last four games in Canberra by an average margin of 54 points. I think the Bulldogs are one defender short for the power of the Giants.
Essendon vs Melbourne
I have backed Melbourne every week and I’m sick to death of seeing them destroy a perfectly good football game.
Supporters may as well pack up the Range Rover early this ski season, head to the slopes and get out the bocci on the dry deck or whatever the silver spoons do in their spare time.
They won’t be beating the Bombers without ruckmen and sore key players, so I’m taking Essendon at the -5.5 line.
Carlton vs Sydney
Buddy loves playing at Etihad and I think he’s sure to tie one on. I pity poor Sam Rowe who will get first crack at him, the big fella looks ready to explode.
He’s kicked 15 goals in his last three games at Etihad and with the amount of young kids playing for Carlton, the ball should live inside Sydney’s 50m arc.
Class has kicked goals against Carlton this year, the last two games Robbie Gray kicked five (should have been nine) and Tom Lynch tore Sam Rowe a new one when he kicked seven two weeks back.
With this in mind, I’m going with Lance Franklin to kick six goals or more at $4.50
Adelaide vs Richmond
I also like Richmond at the 34.5+ line.
It’s the best attack vs the best defence in the league, but the loss of Daniel Talia is huge for Adelaide. He’s underrated and just about their most important player.
Richmond have restricted sides to 75 points a game this year and I can see them being inside the 34.5 line. I don’t think they’re good enough to win this game but they’ll go close.
GWS -21.5 @ (1.92)
Essendon -5.5 @ (1.92)
Lance Franklin to kick six goals or more @ $4.50
Richmond +34.5 @ $1.92
